Dulquer's looks and the way it highlights the carelessness in the movie is great. Credit must also go to Nani actor to give life to his character Dulquer with dubbing. Story of the movie is very predictable and has been treated many times before. After a windy first half, second half is a bit slow. highlight of the film could have been a bit higher and is enveloped in a hurry. Some emotions of the old couple played by Prakash Raj and Leela Krishnan could have been transmitted more convincingly.There is nothing for the mass public to look out for. All basic business elements are absent in the film and some sections of the public will end up loving it.

Technical aspects:-

The partition of A. R. Rahman is brilliant and is the backbone of the film. As said earlier, it is his background score that lifts the film to another level. Credit must also go to Mani Ratnam to present Rahman songs such wonder. Visual P C Sreeram are of superior quality and show the film in a romantic light. The way he presented Mumbai is so beautiful.Dialogues are simple and go with the mood of the film. Mani Ratnam is back in his element with this film and beautifully executed this love story. It discusses the current state of mind of youth and present and their emotions. How it takes a simple story and puts it in the middle of the metropolitan city of Mumbai is wonderful. It is banking on the chemistry of the lead pair and extract a great performance from them.

Verdict:-

With Ok Banagaram, Mani Ratnam did a decent return. It gives the public what is expected of him and the film tells of a way to young. wonderful chemistry between the pair and the lead deaf music score are core strengths of the film. If you manage to ignore routine history, racy narration Mani Ratnam will make you fall in love again.

Recently, I started a screenwriting and movie-making group here in Las Vegas. Our objective was to begin at, well, the beginning of the process and work all the way through to an edited movie. Sounds easy? Yes! Is it really? Not at all.

The one thing I ran into at the very beginning was the problem of demonstrating the development of an idea into something that could be used as screenplay material. The big question is, "what's the difference between regular material and screenplay material?" The only answer I could come up with was, "a beginning, a middle, and an end." They looked at me like I was kidding, but actually, I'm not.

Put simply, a screenplay is a dramatic story told with visuals and dialogue. The screenplay describes the actions, the environment, the dialogue, and the situations that move the story forward. Screenplays have a formula and a format that has been in place for many decades. Yet, the beginning screenwriter sometimes misses this point. I ran into one fellow some months ago who was writing a screenplay that was "325 pages" long! After further discussion, he began to realize that, instead of writing a screenplay, he had a novel with a story that meandered without end.

You can use any old idea for your story, but have a point. Don't just write for the sake of writing as the story will meander around into a traffic jam. If you have an idea, define a theme or objective for the story. What's the point? What is the main character's purpose in "life"?

Life? A character's life? Indeed, the character does have a life in the world you create, but a screenplay is not "real life". It's a metaphor of real life presented in such a way as to represent a particular theme. To write about a real life situation, you have to dissect the situation and find the underlying theme. Then, using that theme as a guideline, you must reassemble the original idea to best represent the theme. Indeed, some aspects of the true-story might be fictionalized to drive the story toward the point.

For example, my wife is working on a screenplay about medical debauchery in Nevada. After a few passes, she began to realize that the story roamed around in circles because of the many facets of the topic. After much coaching, she began to realize that she had to define one particular point and aim the story at it. As a side-effect, the physical issues of the story would be the driving force that leads the plot around to reach "the point".

After writing and reading screenplays over the years, I've given some pointers to folks that usually help them redefine and direct their stories to a solid point. One of the main problems, which I reiterate here, is that you have to "define a point". For example, we might come up with an idea that has a bunch of "cool" actions and situations. We then try to write a story to include these ideas because we want them to be in the story. But, this approach will usually fail because --- what is the point? Define a point, a theme, an objective that encompasses the feeling and direction of these "cool" actions and situations and aim your story in that direction.

To help to resolve the "meandering" problem and the evolution of the story toward the point, create a story where your main character is just this faceless being that quickly and easily achieves his goal. No dialogue. No rhyme or reason. They just reach their goal without effort or conflict. This is boring, but it creates a basis for the story.

Once you're satisfied with this straight-line story, add a specific characteristic that makes this goal have meaning to the main character. This would also mean that you would have to modify the environment and characteristics of your main character such that, to him, this goal means something. Now, with a call to action, he chases his goal with fervor!

Now, add in an obstacle that keeps him from achieving this goal. This would mean that somewhere in the main character's history, this obstacle came into being, but is now an obvious problem in his goal achievement. It could be a character flaw, a villain, or any issue that blocks the main character from his goal. How does he overcome this obstacle? Again, a character modification and backstory is required to show his ability to overcome this obstacle as well as some level of action to do so.

Once the core story is solid and directed, you add a conflict, a twist, and a resolution, one step at a time, until you begin to see your character and story evolve. With a story in hand, you can now add your dialogue to assist in the forward movement of the story, but only as needed. With this approach, you can slowly build your story while keeping your "point" in mind and following the formula for a solid screenplay.

It is essential that you keep an eye on the theme and objective of the story and that you work in that direction, otherwise your story will wander aimlessly. Keep it tight, start late, leave early, and follow the three-act formula. In the end, your screenplay will have the solid story and professional appeal that producers are looking for in creating today's interesting, original movies! --- About the Author ---

Movie presentation has come a long way since its beginnings. Undoubtedly, the most significant advancement is the introduction of digital cinema. It's this technology that makes 3D movies worth watching.

Three D (3D), with its funny glasses, is nothing new. Surround sound has been around for a long time, too. For those of you as old as me, remember the curved cinemascope screens?

Digital cinema, in my opinion, is the only important development in the industry in decades. The reasons are obvious.

You can now watch the equivalent of high definition television images on a screen the size of a house.

No longer do you have to watch a washed-out looking third generation film print that comes complete with scratches, burn holes and grain.

The image is stable as a rock, since theyre not dragging film sprockets over registration pins as in a traditional projector.

Because the movie originates on a hard drive rather than big reels of film stock, the presentation is not limited to the jittery 24 frames-per-second rate. Smoother pans are now possible since, in the digital domain, algorithms can be applied to correct such artifacts.

No more pops and clicks. Again, sound originates from an entirely digital source.

What really motivated me to write this was my recent viewing of Avatar. The story line didnt get my bum into the seat at the theatre. It was interesting, but not the most compelling movie Ive ever seen. As a contractor for one of the companies that makes digital cinema projectors here in Ontario (and that supplied my local theatre), I was keen to see what digital projection, coupled with 3D technology, could do.

It was immediately clear to me that the same effect could not have been produced with film-based 3D. The timing was definitely right for Mr. Cameron to release this epic. Technology made it work. Any artifacts I detected were minor, brief and probably undetectable by the general populace. This was a perfect experience, flawless from corner to corner. I even found myself twitching to dodge a projectile that seemed to fly off the screen and whiz right by my head!

So whats next for the cinema experience? In my humble opinion, the quality and resolution of the visual presentation is now approaching the limits of what we humans can discern. So, maybe the wrap-around screen will make a comeback, or holograms. How about the stimulation of other senses, such as smell and touch?

And what about the home theatre? If the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is an accurate indicator, 3D HDTV will soon be coming to a living room near you. Think of it. Not only will you have to find the remote in the couch, but maybe your 3D glasses as well.

Classical Comedy Movie Given New Life Through Black Widows. Mad or Not?

Two Black Widow Grannies turned the 1944classical comedy movie into a real life nightmare. Were they extremely cleveror mad?

Twowomen, from Los Angelos, originally natives of Hungary, have been named as theBlack Widows. Helen Golay, 77 and Olga Rutterschmidt, 75, sat stony faced incourt, as they were sentenced to life in prison, with no possibility of parole.(Whatever that means to women in their late seventies?)

Theduo were found guilty, after befriending two homeless men, aged 73 and 50. Theyfound accommodation for the men to live in and then took out life policies,(insurance-with-intent-to-murder). They had found an insurance company whichwould pay regardless of illness, or accidental cause. The company slogan is NoHassle, No investigations.

Thetwo women used rubber stamps, onto which they had transferred the menssignatures, to sign the forms. The women then arranged for the two men to bekilled in hit-and-run accidents, in a dark alley.

Golayclaimed she was the fiance of both victims, while Rutterschmidt said she was acousin. The two women collected $US2.8 million, before their deadly scheme wasuncovered. The men, who had been only looking for food, water and shelter, gota lot more than they bargained for.

InJudge Wesleys closing comments he said, The two men you killed needed ahelping hand. They thought they were getting this from you. Instead theseunfortunate men were sacrificed on your altar of greed." The Judgesaid he had checked up on the word greed and found among other things, thedefinition, A selfish desire for money, not in order to purchase things, butjust to have it.

The film lasts three hours and can get on your nerves. There are a number of scenes in the second half that could have easily been cut to make the film crispy. Uttama Villain is super strong technically. The art direction is top notch and the sets and types of light are just wonderful. Yet another major asset of this film is huge Ghibran background score that elevates the film to another level.Music of the film is about right. As said earlier, the screenplay is the biggest and less bogged down every time the movie goes back in time. Story provided by Kamal Haasan's pretty good, but the director Ramesh Aravind so the keeper manages narrative flow of the film.

Overall, Uttama Villain will appeal to a certain part of the audience. mature performance Kamal Haasan and emotional climax are basic assets of the film. On the other hand, a second half and the prolonged absence of entertainment values go against the film a long time. Finally, all those who love the style of Kamal Haasan film manufacturing and melodrama could end up loving it. But otherwise, it's just a lower average case.

Movie Review - Ikiru

Ikiru, translated "To Live", is the masterpiece of the great Japanese filmmaker, Akira Kurosawa. It is very different from the Samurai films for which he is most famous in the West, but it is undoubtedly one of the greatest films ever committed to celluloid.

Produced in 1952, Ikiru tells the story of Kanji Watanabe (Takeshi Shimura), a civil servant who, as the film begins, discovers that he has stomach cancer, and only 6 months to live. His life has been defined by his job, one of soul-sucking monotony and inefficient bureaucracy. Kurosawa demonstrates just how ineffective this bureaucracy is by an amusing scene early in the film, where a group of women petition the department of public affairs to clean up a stagnant pool in their neighborhood. They are shunted from public affairs to engineering, and then further up the bureaucracy, until, eventually, they end up back where they began, having accomplished nothing.

The plight of these women in many ways parallels the life of Mr. Watanabe, who has dedicated himself fully to the bureaucracy. Indeed, he has not missed a single day of work in nearly 30 years, and yet, he realizes, he too has accomplished nothing. Watanabes son is ungrateful of the sacrifices his father has made, though the film points out that the son never asked for them. Mr. Watanabes life is empty and sad, and it is only through the revelation that he is dying, that he is able to truly live for the first time.

He goes out for a night on the town, with the help of a curious stranger who is willing to help him learn to spend his money. A young woman co-worker, who needs his seal so that she can resign, unknowingly helps him continue his journey. Watanabe admires her zest for life just looking at her "warms him up" - and he desires more than anything to understand how to live as she does before he dies.

Takeshi Shimura, a long time Kurosawa collaborator provides a nuanced and touching performance as Watanabe, far removed from his most famous role as Kambei, in Seven Samurai. Indeed, Shimura is able to effectively conveying not only the characters physical pain, but also his emotional pain, and Mr. Watanabes transition from broken despair to a hopeful sense of purpose is entirely believable and engrossing.

As one would expect from a master filmmaker such as Kurosawa, the film is beautifully shot, and the storytelling is impeccable as the director deftly uses a series of flashbacks to tell his story. The pace is very deliberate and ponderous, but never boring.

Akira Kurosawa is certainly one of the great directors in the history of cinema, and he made many more films throughout his career. Many of those films were great in themselves, but Ikiru, with its touching and poignant story, and skilled storytelling, is truly his masterpiece.

Pledging loyalty to both the Francoists and Spanish loyalists, Garcia cuts his teeth as a double agent throughout the three-year struggle, nearly getting killed on multiple occasions. Garcia's focus would eventually turn to WWII, and Roch reveals how seamlessly he ingratiates himself into the good graces of the Nazis, who provided misinformation regarding troop convoys and other essential intelligence. The effortless way Roch conveys these historical timelines makes one thankful Garcia didn't have the reverse ideological intentions.

The film's thrilling climax details Garcia's masterpiece of intrigue, aptly titled "Operation Fortitude," when the spy wired a stream of blatant misinformation to the Germans during the lead up to the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. In a bit of brilliant double-crossing, Garcia convinced the Third Reich that Colonel Patton was going to invade through Calais on the west coast of France, and the Normandy campaign was merely a diversionary tactic. This ruse proved incredibly successful during the assault, but even more so after the fact as Garcia further stalled a German counter-attack with more debilitating untruths. With this in mind, Roch structures Garbo: The Spy to basically affirm that Garcia was one of the key factors in crushing Nazism.

Roch goes to on to explore Garcia's post-war life, which included him faking his own death in Angola before moving to South America, where he operated a cinema and lived for nearly four more decades. Thanks in large part to the investigative work of West, a stoic professor who provides the bulk of the film's interview footage, Garcia was able to return to Normandy in 1984 and receive an esteemed medal from the British government. Footage of the now aged Garcia walking the beaches of Southern France and the expansive cemetery for the fallen soldiers has a special resonance considering the context.
