The trailers of Srirastu Subhamastu have impressed everyone all over. This film which has released all over today is quite crucial for Allu Sirish’s career. Let’s see whether this young mega hero impresses us and gets his much needed hit or not.

Story:-

Sirish(Allu Sirish) belongs to a well to do family which is headed by Prakash Raj. Things in his family get disturbed when Srirish’s brother loves and marries a middle class girl against his father’s will.

In this crunch situation, Sirish falls in love with a yet another middle class girl called Anu(Lavanya) and reveals about this to his father. An upset Prakash Raj, gives him a piece of his advice and asks him to back off from the relationship.

An adamant Sirish, challenges his father that he will win his love by not using his family name. In this process, he woos Anu and right when the time things start getting positive, Anu’s father(Rao Ramesh) arranges her marriage with some one else.

Rest of the story is as to how Sirish manages to convince both Anu’s parents and his and finally comes out victorious.

Plus Points:-

One of the biggest asset of the film is the feel good nature of the story. Even though the film has a routine premise and predictable story line, the way the proceedings have been narrated makes things entertaining. The film is filled with romance, family emotions and comedy in right doses and gives the audience decent entertainment. Interval bang is very good.

Probably, this is the best performance and look for Allu Sirish till date. He has cleverly played to his strengths and goes with the mood of the film which is quite good. Sirish’s performance in crunch scenes is decent and his hard work shows off on screen. First half of the film has romantic moments and the second half is filled with memorable family elements.

Once again, Lavanya Tripathi gets a meaty role and impresses big time. Her homely look and emotional character works pretty well and is one of the highlights. Rao Ramesh is amazing as the doting father and his dialogues and chemistry with Lavanya is endearing. After a long gap, Ali gets a hilarious role and all his scenes with Subba Raju are just hilarious.

Minus Points:-

As said earlier, plot of the film is ages old and has nothing much interesting to offer. Prakash Raj’s character is diluted in the end as the senior actor has noting much to do in the film except for the climax.

Even though the climax is good, it feels like it has been ended in a hurry. A senior actress like Sumalatha should have been given some more importance in the film.

Technical Aspects:-

Production values by Geetha Arts are top notch and they have not shied away from making this film look rich. Thaman’s music is quite pleasing and goes with the mood of the film. Editing is top notch as the makers have cleverly packaged the film in a neat manner. Dialogues written are very good and so was the art direction.

Coming to the director Parasuram, he has done a superb job with the film. After having a predictable story line, the way he narrated the film with ample entertainment and good dose of emotions shows his talent. He also scores brownie points for extracting a good performance from Sirish and showcasing him in a very decent manner.

Verdict:

Srirastu Subhamstu will surely be the much needed hit that Allu Sirish is looking for in his career. If he chooses interesting scripts like these, he will go a long way in Tollywood. Good performances, entertaining comedy and moving family emotions through out the film are basic assets. If you go in with an open mind and ignore the predictability of the script, this film will not disappoint you at all. A simple and breezy watch.

Story: -

Sambar Siva (Vishal) is a chef who owns a catering group. One day he agrees to organize a wedding notorious criminal of the village. When things seem to go well, a fight breaks out between the team of Siva and the bad.The group of Siva manages to fight them, but fled the village fearing the future consequences. They install in Vijayawada and begin to seek their livelihood.One day Shiva meets Aishwarya (Aishwarya Arjun) and falls for her. This is also the time when two rival groups start fighting for power in the city. A small fight with one of the gangs, Siva land in a huge difficulty.Who is this group? Do they have something to do with the past of Siva? How Siva go against them?. For answers to all these questions, you need to watch this movie on the big screen.

Plus Points: -

Vishal does a decent job, and is especially good in action episodes. Aishwarya Arjun made a decent effort. Although she did not have many scenes to accomplish, she made the most of his screen time.Santhanam's comedy is good in his usual role. Action episodes were designed and well turned. It was during the second half, the film picks up speed, and makes it a little interesting.

Minus Points: -

Pace of the film in the first half is quite slow. Scenes were trained at the base, and the placement of songs do not help matters much.Manufacturers have focused a lot on the action sequences, leaving the heart of the film. Tamil nativity might not be loved by the people here.

Technical aspects:-

the work of the camera is quite good in the film. How the action scenes were covered is decent. Editing in the first half was bad enough that many scenes could be cut to make the film crispy.Music by SS Thaman is just below average. Not even a song is good, and impede the flow of the film. Verdict:-

Overall, the Vishal adventure as a producer is not up to the mark. A first half slow and tedious, and a few moments of routine and boring spoil the fun. Give this movie a shot, if you do as an action desi hardcore Vishal.

Rango Movie From Gore Verbinski

Rango is being entirely animated by the visual-effects home Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). ILM is normally hired to provide the CGI for expensive blockbusters (such as Verbinskis Pirates with the Caribbean movies), but this is the initial time the company has been asked to handle a completely animated feature.

Verbinski cleared up some plot details. Rango (Depp) is a pet chameleon who lives in a terrarium. Hes a thespian searching for an audience, says Verbinski. Hes created friends using the inanimate objects in his terrarium he calls them all by name. And when we meet him, hes in the act of putting on a play using the various objects. Verbinski then alluded to Roadkill, an armadillo voiced by Alfred Molina: Roadkills run over within the origin of Rangos demise, exactly where his terrarium is thrust from his car, and he results in the desert.

By means of a bizarre set of circumstances, Rango winds up at a town called Dirt, which is populated by a number of Mojave Desert wildlife. This town is truly hungry for a hero, and they get the great pretender, says Verbinski. Rango has to ultimately be prepared for the difference between pretending and whats real. The director also mentioned that Rango, as an aquatic creature desperately looking for hydration, ironically finds himself obtaining involved in a Chinatown-esque water subplot.

Already Rango comes off as an animated movie with more substance on its mind and much more tricks up its sleeve than most. And the way Verbinski went about recording his characters voices was a departure for an animated movie. Normally, actors perform their lines alone in a recording studio. But instead, Verbinski gathered his entire cast including Depp, Timothy Olyphant, Abigail Breslin, Bill Nighy, Isla Fisher, Ray Winstone, and Harry Dean Stanton and had them act out the whole film inside a studio during the course of a 20-day shoot. Utilizing a limited amount of props, sets, and costumes, the actors repeatedly tackled their scenes while video cameras recorded their performances.

Its not motion capture we call it emotion-capture, says Verbinski. I didnt want to stop the techniques that were developed in shooting live action, in which you try to optimize the possibility of capturing the awkward moment the moment in which things arent cerebral or manufactured. Every thing in an animated movie is manufactured. There aren't any accidents. So we were trying to encourage a kinetic, raw spark to the audio track. Verbinski showed us some of this footage, and needless to say, the view of Johnny Depp pretending to become heroic cowboy lizard is simultaneously amusing and slightly disturbing.

The discovery of "the cave of John the Baptist" not far away from Jerusalem was a great journalistic drama. Archaeological news easily lights the imagination. Remember the movie series of Indiana Jones. Is it true that John the Baptist began to baptize his followers in this cave? Let us go over the facts, and find out.

There are not many historical sources of information concerning the whereabouts of John the Baptist. Of these, the Gospels, especially St. Luke, give us the most accurate information. Another source may be "the Antiquities of the Jews" by Josephus Flavius.

St. Luke tells us that Zachary, the father of John, was a priest, who lived with John's mother Elisabeth in "a city of Judah" in "the hill country". No source tells us exactly where it was. But we should assume that people live near their work place. If so, that city was situated in the vicinity of Jerusalem, because priests worked in the Temple. Traditionally, it is believed that Zachary and Elisabeth lived in Ein Kerem, a small town near Jerusalem, but there are no archaeological findings which can prove it.

Some churches have been built in Ein Kerem since the Byzantine era, though we do not know if the earlier churches were dedicated to John the Baptist or related to him. The first ones who did associate Ein Kerem to John were the Crusaders, but it must be emphasized that those Christian conquerors of the Holy land used to adapt the Holy sites to the area they ruled.

When the Crusaders controlled the way to Jerusalem, they said that the village of Emmaus was situated in the village of Abu Ghosh, and built there a beautiful church. A hundred years later, after they were driven away by the Moslems from there, they did not hesitate to identify Kubeiba as the one and only Emmaus. Also there they built a church, a monastery and fortress.

Actually there has been always a town called Emmaus. It is located in the Ayalon valley. The early Christians believed that this is the real Emmaus, mentioned in the Gospels, and magnificent churches were built there during the Byzantine era, 1500 years ago. The problem with this identification was that the place is located more than 30 kilometers from Jerusalem, while according to St. Luke the distance was only 11 kilometers.

Back to John the Baptist. We have already considered the location of his birth place. And now let us ask ourselves: where did he preach and baptize? The Gospels tell us mainly two geographical facts. That he did his preaching and religious rituals in the Judea desert, and that he baptized people who came to him from Judea and Jerusalem, in the Jordan River.

St John mentions specifically a place called Aenon, near Salim. He says John the Baptist operated there "because there was much water there". St John mentions another place called "Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing". The only possible conclusion for those who are acquainted with the area should be that John baptized his fellow Jews in the vicinity of Jericho. It was the only place combining the water of the Jordan River, a convenient road from Jerusalem and Judea and a geographical closeness to a desert, Judea desert.

St. Luke tells us that John was born when Herod was the tetrarch of Galilee. It means
John lived when Herod the 2nd, son of King Herod the Great, ruled the northern and the eastern part of the country. Many years later, this tetrarch (Roman prince) arrested John and executed him in a brutal way, by beheading him.

Why was he imprisoned and eliminated? Some of the Gospels tell us that John rebuked the tetrarch publicly for his evil deeds. But the great Jewish historian Josephus tells us another story. John was regarded as politically dangerous. St. Matthew insinuates that this version is reliable, when he says that Herod "feared the multitude, because they counted him (John) as a prophet".

The main contribution of Josephus to our story is telling us where John was imprisoned and murdered. It was in the fortress of Machaerus (Mikhvar, in Hebrew), the remains of which can be seen nowadays in the kingdom of Jordan.

Kibutz Tzuba (the correct Hebrew name is Tzova) where the cave was found, is located only four kilometers from Ein kerem, which probably was the birthplace of John, as mentioned above. But we should recall that John did not operate there. He needed "much water". In Tzuba-Ein-Kerem area water is scarce. The Historical sources put the scene in a different site: the Jordan River, apparently near Jericho. Why not believe them?

A few hundred meters from the Tzuba cave, on the top of another hill, the remains of a small fortress can be seen. The Crusaders built it to control a secondary way to Jerusalem, used by Pilgrims. Those days the Crusaders did not control the main road to Jerusalem any more, and had no choice but to use their productive imagination to "create" new "biblical sites". Nearby Abu Ghosh is one of them. It became Emmaus.

Is the Tzuba Cave a modern such an adjustment of versions? May be .But it could also be a place where John the Baptist really did some baptizing. Why not? He was born not far away from there. His parents could still live in Ein Kerem. May be he used the cave when he came to visit them?

We are dealing here with speculations. And these are beyond the scope of our discussion. Most of the Holy sites in Israel are believed to be the original ones without having any firm scientific proof. Does it matter? Apparently the answer is negative. Belief is a matter of the heart, not of science.

What Archaeologists do know for sure is that the Tzuba cave was used by Jews for a long period of time, starting during the reign of the Judean kings some 600 years before John's time. It continued to be used by Christians until 300- 400 years after John's time. There are some carvings from that time on the wall which are symbols related to John the Baptist, including his image, a drawing of his decapitated head and a cross shape.

Inside the cave, archaeologists found many pottery shards, indicating the cave could be used for baptizing. Is it enough for proving anything? The answer is no. Is it worth a visit? The answer is absolutely yes. But for that purpose people should wait. The cave has not yet been opened to visitors.

The Cartel - Bob Bowdon discuses his new documentary The Cartel a powerful account of Americas education system:

Bob Bowdon, a veteran broadcaster, decided after doing severalstories centering on the New Jersey Public Education system that enoughwas enough.

Along with his experiences and those of a friend who changed jobsfrom journalist to school teacher, Bowdon decided that it was time tochronicle what he saw in a documentary.

The result, made over two years and on Bowdons own bank account, isThe Cartel, a powerful account of mismanagement, overspending andintimidation prevalent in Americas education systemwith New Jersey asthe prime example cited for all of these ills.

During a recent stop to Philadelphia, Bowdon, who is next producingand hosting a PBS series in which teams debate each other oncontroversial topics, discussed the films journey to theaters and histhoughts about a broken education system which sends people out of highschool illiterate, has three-quarters of college level kids unable tofind Middle Eastern countries on a map and ranks 474th in the world inmath scores.

Movie FanFare: You use New Jersey as an example of a failededucation system. What can the country learn from the mistakes NewJersey has made?

Bob Bowdon: New Jersey has been the biggest spending state. Whateveryone can learn is that money doesnt equal quality. There areinputs people and outputs people. (The state says): We must be foreducation because we spent so much. Everybody knows you can hire abunch of people and have them sit around and fill out forms and itdoesnt affect a kids learning. So I know the issues are the same allover. New Jersey is our case study and preaches that if you thinkthrowing money is the answer, think again.

MFF: Has New Jersey Governor John Corzine seen this?

BB: I havent offered to show it to him because I presumed if he wanted to see it, hed find a way.

MFF: What triggered this project?

BB: Ive been a TV reporter that covered educational stories. Therewere these anecdotal stores that were not connected. An outrage here,or a terrible principal there, or millions of dollars disappearsomewhere else. What had not been done is tell the story in one picturewith all of these comparisons in the movie and how there are higherbudgets with no increase in performance by education to the students.On TV, weve seen some of the individual stories.

The final catalyst was my friend, a TV producer who got a job as aninner city high school English teacher. I said, This has got to be adocumentary. Theres too much here. Leaving aside whether I am greator terrible as a filmmaker, this kind of expose has never been donebefore. Maybe there is some obscure film out there that someone willpresent to me. But as far as I know it hasnt been done, even thougheducation is one of the key topics in the country, without sounding toograndiose. So the catalyst was my friend who was an English teacher.

MFF: Even though you had some prominent education figures appear inthe film, did you find many people reticent to speak to you abut thissubject on-camera?

BB: There are people all the time who come to me at film festivalswho are outraged and tell me their personal stories. I ask them if theywould do it on camera, and they say No, I cant do it on camera. Theymay be in the union, or their spouse may work for a school. They areafraid to speak out. You dont have to scratch the surface too far toknow there are people afraid to speak out. Call up six people and askthem to speak their mind and youll learn there are fear andintimidation in something as innocuous and wholesome as the publicschool system. That said, nonetheless we also did get a lot of people(to speak).

MFF: You focused primarily on schools in troubled cities likeCamden, Newark and Trenton, but isnt there another story to tell fromother schools in more settled neighborhoods?

BB: I am interested in improving public policies and I think thefilm goes to where the need is greatest. There are storiesof whichthere are many and we could have easily doneit would have taken timeaway from the real disasters going on elsewhere. If we looked at theother schools, then people may say its steady as she goes. But it is ared alert disaster in some of these worst schools, so for me to profilethe happy, it didnt make sense.

MFF: The Cartel is quite critical of the teachers unions role inthe problems as you show them protecting bad teachers and principalsand other acts that are harmful to a childs education.

BB: We take great pains to distinguish teachers unions with otherkinds of unions. When GM negotiates with the United Auto Workers, UAWdoesnt have a strong hand in running General Motors, who they arenegotiating with. But the teachers unions have a huge hand in selectingwho they give money to for the school board. Then the school boardselects the superintendent with whom they negotiate. So they create ascenario where the superintendent with whom they agree is the one whogets appointed by school board members seated through elections theyhave helped financed. Its a different kind of union then every otherunion in the country.

I believe in schools where the parent can leave their kid in a unionschool that could be their choice, or if they want to put their kid ina private school that doesnt have a union, that should be theirchoice. If a private school decides to unionize its teachers, then thatshould be their choice. I am not pro- or anti- union philosophically,as long as there is choice. The problem is if there is a monopoly andthere is only one choice, and you have to go there if you are a poorperson. Thats where the problem comes from.

Dhoom 2, which came out in November 24, 2006, was such a big hit that it had a very successful opening in India and overseas. In the US alone, it had earned US$2,642,290 by early 2007. Dhoom 2 is a hugely commercialised film which does not have a proper story line, if it has any. Rather, the movie has spent much time and effort on all aspects of commercialisms in terms of the cast, entertainment, glamour, songs etc.

To some, having a good story or plot might be the most important thing to look out for in a film. Perhaps not too much of it should be expected, since the purpose of a movie is meant to entertain in various ways (acting, glamour, music, cinematography, video editing etc) apart from a good storyline. If people were to keep expecting just good stories from movies, they might as well read a good novel instead.

Then again, the director should not have neglected the story so much to the extent that critics come up with endless lists to highlight all the flaws which are so apparent throughout the movie.

Story:

As mentioned before, the story is not really paid attention to. A mysterious their, who calls himself Mr. A (Hrithik Roshan), goes literally around the world stealing priceless items in highly sophisticated ways. The purpose of his behaviour is not explained. A hot pursuit by an ACP, Assistant Commissioner of Police (played by Abhishek Bachan), then follows and along the way, Mr. A finds himself a voluntary partner Sunehri (Aishwarya Rai) whom he later finds out that she is sent to spy on him. She finds out later that she has fallen for him in a typical Bollywood fashion and joins hands with him after that.

The star appeal of each actor has been highlighted through their respective introductory scenes which may seem unnecessary to most viewers. In fact, most of the scenes are unnecessary but that is because story is not the focus of this movie at all.

Screenplay:

Fun and entertainment are primarily the main attention in this movie. This movie is taken in a rather commercially appealing way right from the start till the very end. Probably this is where its success is attributed to.

Eye candy supplied by Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu are part of the fun factor which is simply meant to divert the audiences attention from wondering what the story is about.

Uday Chopra is the main entertainment factor as he does his comic antics to keep a smile on the audiences faces.

Cinematography:

Cinematography is awesome. Every robbery scene is well taken care by the camera angles and shots.

Video Editing:

Video editing is quite well done, even though more of it could be implemented since the movie is done purely for entertainment.

My passion for classic cars started during childhood after seeing one of my favorite movies, Grease. This article breaks down a few ideas that I pulled from the classic movie, both for the vehicle that I drove as well as some cool clothing ideas that I have sported over the years.

One funny thing we used to do was we would point the wiper blades and water release vents out away from the windshields. So when the wiper fluid was turned on, the water would shoot out and hit any car or person to the side of the car. Im not sure if this was easily done to Mustang wiper parts or if it was just a special trick that we could do with some of those older cars, but it sure surprised quite a few when they would get sprayed.

So along with my pimped out 65 Ford Mustang, I kind of liked the whole greaser look that the T-Birds had. I had to go out and get a leather jacket. I found one at a thrift store, and along with a couple pairs of blue jeans, I was there. Pretty much a blast from the past. Its pretty funny how fashions come back around in circles. Perhaps fanny packs and slap bracelets will be the next fad along with Iroc Camaros and white Jeeps and every school. And maybe the fashions can really be connected to each popular movie that comes out. So Dont tell Mom the Babysitters Dead and Clueless can be blamed for such sweet fashions that will be coming back in the future.

I only wish that I decided to keep that 65 Mustang. Those classic cars will never go out of style. I have seen many of the new re-issues, the new PT Cruiser and the new Dodge Challenger. Theyre very nostalgic and are new solutions. But the real deal lives in the old steel. Road rage is best in an old classic.. just kidding :) But Im sure many of us have thought from time to time how nice it would be to have an old clunker to teach a lazy driver a thing or two out there on the road. And the ease of being able to work under their hoods is so missed nowadays.

I have convinced myself enough to jump back online and search for one of those classic Stangs. I bet they go for more money now, but they are totally worth the investment.

One day they find from a baba than ever that they marry will end up losing their lives in the next ten days. To avoid this predicament, they plan to marry first and Pierre Aswad and after death, continue their lives.How will they convince the two to marry them? Did Peter and Aswad lose their lives? What happens over time? For answers to these questions, you need to watch the movie on the big screen.

Plus Points:-

The entire first half is the largest point of the film more. Interesting work, comedy, scenes and realistic performances give a major boost to the film. Not once during the first half you get bored and scores Parvateesam strongly during this period. These are his histrionics and realistic featuring the youth of today that entertains a lot of time.Tejaswini is superb in his character and plays with a lot of depth. She is a very talented actress who can make any kind of role and hope Tollywood filmmakers use his property. Krutika is beautiful and is very good in all the emotional scenes. She had a complex role she portrayed with much ease.The film has some hilarious comedy in the first half. brand of double meaning dialogues Maruthi also work well with all the B and C centers.

Minus Points:-

After such an entertaining first half, the movie falls flat on his face. All procedures take a severe beating as the side slopes of the film and becomes more or less as Prema Katha Chitram. At least there, the comedy was good, but unfortunately here and things go haywire not even seasoned actors like Ali manage to save the film.The whole story is wrapped up in the first half itself and not much is left in the second part. The story is quite predictable and you can easily understand what will happen next. Moreover, the way things are completed during the heyday unclear.

Technical Aspects:-

The production values are clean as the film has great visuals. Music by JB is decent and his background score also improves the film. Dialogues are hilarious and have been written keeping the current scenario in mind. Maruthi scenario is superb in the first half, but by the time the film reaches the end, things become irrelevant.Coming to the director Murali, he performed the film very well and managed to keep the fun element and suspenseful enough. But it is weak in writing during the second half which does not allow him to do much.

Verdict:-

Overall, Rojulu Marayi is a contemporary take on how the girls in today's society are. The film has everything you would expect in a Maruthi brand film. Double meaning dialogues, comedy, denigration of women and a very interesting first half that keeps things entertaining. But it is lack luster second half dropping the procedure and making this film just shows again.
