Jil Telugu Movie Review and Rating

Release date : Mar 27, 2015

AuthorRating : 3.25/5

Director : Radha Krishna

Producer : Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Pramod Uppalapati

Music Director : Mohamaad Ghibran

Starring : Gopichand, Rashi Khanna….

Story: -

I (Gopichand) is a genuine fire officer who leads a happy life with his family. He falls in love Savitri (Raashi Khanna) and spends quality time with her. Twist in the tale arises when an underworld don Chota Naik (Kabir) crosses Jai.A little misunderstanding between the two of them end up in a huge war. Rest of the story is how Jai solves its problems and overcomes the powerful Chota Naik.

Plus Points: -

U V creations are always known for making stylish films Jil is yet another feather in their cap. It is probably one of the most stylized film to have come in the last time. Upon introduction of the main characters of the way the songs were shot, everything looks beautiful.Gopichand looks at his career best and was presented elegantly. It has an important role it plays with much ease. All his confrontational scenes with the wicked were treated superbly. Rashi ups glamor quotient and its role in sparkling wonder. It is the main attraction of all the songs and brought to wonder.Yet another major asset of the film is the villain Kabir. He looks threatening and does his impressive negative role. All beautiful songs and are an added bonus to the film. First half of the film is decent and has some times of engagement. All comedy scenes between Gopichand and aunt played by Urvashi are hilarious.

Negative points:

major drawback of the film is the story line of the low. There are no surprises or major turns that the film runs on the agenda at a single point. The story takes off during the interval that the manager gets things with a little twist. The second half is a bit predictable and offers nothing new. After a heavy accumulation of confrontation scenes between the hero and the villain, the climax is disappointing and ran. Posani the comedy track and Prabhas Seenu in the second half becomes boring and was dragged unnecessarily.

Technical aspects:-

Jil is high on the technical aspects. Major credit should go to the shooting which presents the film in a beautiful light. All the songs have been designed beautifully, and especially those shot in the beautiful places of Spain spectacular. The Spanish locations were presented like never before and give an added advantage to the songs. Ghibran music is the main strength and become the talking point of the film. Dialogues are correct and if the lyrics.Special mention must go to the costumers who have done a wonderful job. Coming to the debutante director Radha Krishna, he did a decent job in his first film. It focuses more on the aspect of the film, but misses the content slightly. The way he performed the romantic and high track the villain is good, but lost steam in the end because of its weak story line.

Verdict:-

Overall, Jil is one of the most stylized films that came out in the recent past. stunning visuals, energetic music and decent performance are essential assets. If you end up with routine history and second half predictable, you can certainly watch the artist masala this weekend.

I worked closely with Titus Moody in the making of the movie 'The Last of the American Hoboes'. Recently I have found a few reviews of the movie on the internet. I was excited to see favorable mention of some my early work in the music business in some, others were not as flattering. There was a couple of misspellings and an error in fact in that the movie wasn't released in the late '1970's' rather around 1971 or 1972. Below is a composite-example of a couple of them. I corrected the misspellings in this post. I have tried to contact the posters but so far have not had a response. There was no copyright protection notice and since the reviews deal with my work I believe I have the right to comment on them in this way.

If you've ever wanted a close up experience with real life hoboes and their stories this is one of those rare films that provides just that. Filmed in a documentary, story-telling form that provides the history of the hobo; going back to how they began riding the rails, looking for work during the great depression, and how they would put a mark near a house that was friendly to hoboes to the story of Hal Jon Norman-Actor and how he lost his leg while trying to jump on a moving train as a youth. A Juddy Phillips produced soundtrack the best cut being 'Like A Hobo Should' by Gary Revel also tracks by: The Chapparral Brothers, Wayne Storm, Brian Mark and sounds from the street and the hobo jungle brought by Hobo Actor Journalist The Nobel 'Kid' Chissel, Mike DeTemple, and The Salvation Army Band. The movie is rare and collectible. I saw it at a screening many years ago and bought one of the soundtrack albums at a garage sale. The soundtrack album cover-photography by Ken Berg folds out and is a unique collectible in it's own right. Inside the cover it says, "A Judy Russell Gary Revel Byron Spears Movement". The song credits show that Gary Revel wrote and or performed on about half of the cuts on the album. I remember Titus Moody produced and directed. The movie premiered in the late 1970's at the Hobo Convention in Britt, Iowa. An enjoyable entertaining film.

Hitudu Telugu Movie Review Rating

Release date : December 11, 2015

AuthorRating : 2.25/5

Director : Viplav

Producer : K.S.V

Music Director : Koti

Starring : Jagapathi Babu, Meera Nandan

Off late, Jagapathi Babu has become an extraordinary character artist. This family hero’s latest flick is Hithudu which has him in the lead role. This emotional drama has hit the screens today and let’s now find out how the film turns out to be.

Story:

The story begins in a village called back Paderu. Sitaram (Jagapathi Babu) is a former Naxalite who leaves her band and implements a Paderu school to encourage education. On the other hand, Abhilasha (Meera Nandan) is a happy go lucky girl who is very brilliant in his studies. Seeing his talent, Sitaram takes responsibility for his education. One day Abhilasha it lands in enormous difficulties.Citing these problems, Sitaram arranges and sends it to another village to continue their studies. Rest of the story is how to help Abhilasha Sitaram manages to complete his studies in spite of all these problems.

Pluspoints:

Jagapathi Babu did complete justice having good variations of his character, which consists of three different shades. He uttered a few powerful and meaningful dialogues effortlessly. Meera Nandan is well suited his character. It offers a magnificent performance as a village girl.Viplav young director managed to convey his program through powerful dialogues that include significant human values. Benerjee was pretty good as Naxalite.

Negative points:

The lack of necessary commercial elements is the major drawback. Although the basic idea of the filmis good, the director has failed in its implementation in most part of the film. So many sub plots that come in the middle of the film creates enormous confusion. The scenario is slow and not interesting. After 10 minutes, the film becomes quite predictable. The running time is long enough and all the songs break the procedure of the film. There is no clarity on the immediate realization of the villagers.Technicalaspects:Coming to the music, Koti background score is very good for the emotional scenes, but none of his songs are good. Director of photography presented Bharani places Vizag a splendid manner. The production values are good.Film editing is very annoying that the film becomes very long and dragging. Most part of the film could have easily cut. Director Viplav managed to extract good performance molten lead. While the concept is good, the performance is very bad.

Verdict:

Overall, Hitudu has extraordinary performances and the interesting story line complemented by some worthy dialogues. The film has a flavor of art and complete film will not impress the regular public. All those who like realistic movies with slow narration can try. Rest can take easily.

The movie Apocalypse Now

The movie Apocalypse Now is considered to be of the greatest movies not only about the Vietnam War, but also one of the best movies that described the psychological and personal side of the war witn...

The movie Apocalypse Now is considered to be of the greatest movies not only about the Vietnam War, but also one of the best movies that described the psychological and personal side of the war witness and participant in the world cinematography.  Making the movie, Coppola faced a lot of difficulties and troubles, but still the work was done, despite enormous cases of tropical fever happened to the actors, huge expenses that could make him a bankrupt and awful, unbearable conditions in jungles, the place where the most of the movie takes place.  In 1980 Pauline Kael wrote, with some justice, Trying to say something big, Coppola got tied up in a big knot of American self-hatred and guilt, and what the picture boiled down to was: White man -- he devil. (Jonathan Rosenbaum Now and then Chicago Reader 11/2001)custom essays

The idea of making an epic, all evolving movie about the war was  well-realized by Coppola, because the mass public needed to see what this dark page in the American military and social life was about, to feel the core of the tragedy and better understand those returned form the war.

As Norris Margot says: Francis Ford Coppola rejected historical verisimilitude and reference when making his Vietnam War film Apocalypse Now. Instead, he chose the mythical approach of modernism. In fact, the films many surrealistic scenes and moments give a strong insight into the incomprehensibility of the Vietnam War. Coppola clearly recognizes that the film is not war, or a simulation, but a representation that must problematize itself. The film played a key role in forcing Americans to reconsider events in Vietnam. (Norris, Margot.  Modernism and Vietnam: Francis Ford Coppolas Apocalypse Now. (Modernisms and Modern Wars) Modern Fiction Studies v44, n3 (Fall, 1998):730 (37 pages))

Truth on Film French director Francois Truffaut once said, I demand that a film express either the joy of making cinema or the agony of making cinema. I am not at all interested in anything in between and what Coppola pictured was a real truth, it was even more realistic that anyone could imagine.

The main point I want to highlight is that this great and terrific movie, primary made as an anti-war movie, hadnt even a hint on such a thing as morality and ethics in war time, which gives it a lot of truthfulness to the movie but at the same time makes it bloody and cruel.  The hard-boiled hero in Apocalypse Now, however, lacks the moral certainty of his American model, and lives to see his ideal exposed as corrupt. (Hellman, John. Vietnam and the Hollywood Genre Film: Inversions of American Mythology in The Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now. American Quarterly, vol. 34 no. 4. 1982 Fall. pp: 418-439.)

The plot is quit mosaic: officer Willard is ordered to be sent to Cambodian jungles to solve the issue with renegade Colonel Kurtz, who established some kind of a kingdom in the virgin jungles of Mekong and organized a well-armed army from the local aborigine tribe, who worship him like god. Willard agrees, fulfills his duty and returns back.

The atmosphere of the movie can not be reproduced in common words, but to understand the characters better its just enough to quote the words of the main heroes, how the war changed them:

Every time I think Im gonna wake up back in the jungle. When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. Id wake up and thered be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said yes to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there. When I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle. Im here a week now. Im waiting for a mission - getting softer. Every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker. And every minute Charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger. Each time I looked around, the walls moved in a little tighter. (Willard)

I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. Thats my dream, its my nightmare. Crawling, slipping along the edge of a straight razor and surviving....But we must kill them, we must incinerate them, pig after pig, cow after cow, village after village, army after army, and they call me an assassin. What do you call it when the assassins accuse the assassin? They lie. They lie and we have to be merciful for those who lie, for those nabobs. I hate them. I do hate them. (Colonel Kurtz)

But the whole movie has much more to say, then to depict this quiet usual war-time situation. There is a proverb A fish rots from the head, in this case it rots from inside. Willard hadnt any way, but to give agreement for this task. Looking through the profile of the colonel, a successful military man in the past, physic and rioter in the present, and dead one in future, Willard perfectly understood his victim, and more over he agreed with the rioting colonel. The war that had no idea, was fought by unwilling soldiers, who were ruled by unqualified commanders and more over by unqualified politicians, broke and destroyed the existed personality, it released the hidden savage and beast, that is lying in the bottom of everyones soul and that makes an animal and a human similar. And colonel was such one, Vietnam changed him forever, made him different and the only way he had is to become one of them, one of the enemies he fought against and he changed his broken by war life on worshiping of wordless people, on power and hidden fear.

The atmosphere of the war in Vietnam can not be transmitted by similar picture and scenes of typical movies, thats why Coppola uses surrealistic effects, Vagners music (the flight of the Volkirias), napalm effects, blood and pains, that make every spectator to be a witness of that terrible and awful events and go through that purgatory and hell.

The core of the Vietnam is getting brighter when Willard at least reaches the kingdom of colonel Kurtz. Kurtz realized his situation quite well and he understood that once the end will be put to his rebelling behavior, if not when Willard came than later. Thats why he didnt kill Willard, who came on a boat, but had long conversations with him, and at the end he gave Willard the axe to kill him. Understandably that this murder crossed out all the life of Willard, and he never remained the same he had been before.

Coppolas movie brought to the mass spectators the realities and horrors of the Vietnam War, the shock and stress standed by the veterans of this war and gave the explanation to the vets of the reasons of psychological sickness they had when returning back to peaceful life back in the USA. The darkness of the war that covered the hearts of the soldiers was shown through the episode with colonel Kurtz and captain Willard.

But despite all the horror and massacre described the idea of the movie remains as it was first set by Coppola, to show the immorality of the war and to make the man think about it in future, to give something to think about when one will decide to solve a problem by the military way.

Filmmaking Make Your Movie Sound Like A Real Movie

I get a lot of questions on if I can "do" sound sweetening, usually by frantic filmmakers, calling in the middle of the night.  They are frantic because the sound in their movie or video is bad....

I get a lot of questions on if I can "do" sound sweetening, usually by frantic filmmakers, calling in the middle of the night.  They are frantic because the sound in their movie or video is bad.

They've used a cheap mic, plugged into the camera, or worse, have used the on-camera mic.

They had a friend aimlessly point the mic at the floor, or the sky, anywhere but at the actor muttering his lines, and moved the mic randomly during shooting.

Some, from the sound of it, have pointed the mic directly at the whirring camera, or rumbling electric generator, or humming air conditioner, or buzzing fluorescent lamp.  They've bumped the mic against the wall, or the ceiling, or trees or bushes. They're far away from what they're recording, not even in the same vicinity.  There's so much "room sound," you can barely hear the actor mumbling along.

So, the Sound Guy (whoever they can get for a few minutes - usually a well-meaning person with no experience) turns up the level too far, which just makes the sound distort horribly, or too low, which buries the good sound in the mud.

Sound Editing adds more mistakes, and compounds the problem.

The filmmaker has the equipment, and wants the film to be good.

You'd think he'd read a book on the subject.  You would be wrong.

He chops the sound when he chops the picture, and that's it.  He doesn't split it into tracks, or replace bad sound, or finesse the tracks, or otherwise spend time exerting care and craft on his precious film's soundtrack.

Essentially, when he's done shooting and cutting and laying music, he thinks he is done, without spending the minimum of time and care and money it takes, to have a good sound track. So the filmmaker shows his movie, with its bad sound, to lukewarm audience reaction.  Ouch!

People don't know why the movie is bad, actually.  Not one in ten can recognize "bad sound," they just think the movie stinks. If the filmmaker is very, very lucky, somebody will tell him the sound is bad.  Otherwise, he has no clue.

He's disappointed, but he still wants to maybe fix it.  Somebody says "sweetening" the sound will help.  So he comes to me. He wants to know if bad sound can be fixed.  I have to tell him the bad news - no.

At this stage, unless he has a great deal of time and money, and is willing to start completely over and take the proper care, nothing can be done.

Bad sound is the product of negligence.  If you spend the time and care, from the beginning, there is no reason for your film or video sound to be bad.

You've probably seen many commercial movies with good sound, so why doesnt your movie sound like them?  You probably don't really know how a good movie sounds, and what effort went into making them sound good.

Take some time, and actively listen.  After a while, you'll notice what a good movie sounds like. I was very lucky when I was starting out. I read a book by Ivan Watson from England, who spelled out precisely what it takes to record and edit and mix good movie sound.

You can still find "Uncle Ivan's" books, either online, http://snurl.com/brbu or at your library.  If you haven't read any filmmaking books, you need to.  Get going! What can you do to make your movie track sound less like a video, and more like a real movie?

Maybe a better question is, "Why does video sound so bad?" I think that's a fair question, because frankly, most video sound, (all elements music-dialog-effects), sucks. I've heard exceptions, so I know it's not just the video itself.

Film does sound very different than video, I am certain of that.

Real movies are rich-sounding, with only the sounds and music that move the story along.  Video, even shot by filmmakers who should know better, often is tinny and muffled, with thumps and noise on the tracks.

How is film sound different from video?  Making a movie sound like a movie starts with the production sound.

Film sound is recorded on analog machines (yes, they still exist), or on cool new 96Khz/24bit sampling recorders.

Mini-DV camera sound is uncompressed 48Khz/16bit sampling.

That's better-than-CD audio quality, but camera makers save money by using cheap audio circuits in most under-$5k video cameras. Cheap-and-dirty analog-to-digital circuits add noise and distortion to your high-quality mic's crisp analog sound.

The best video camera sound I've found is on the Panasonic DVX-100A.  Its audio section is good as most DAT or solid-state flash memory recorders.  Shooting with one is like recording on a separate digital recorder.

Film sound is recorded with  a midrange bump, and an EQ raise above 6KHz.

6KHz is the high end of the human voice. Midrange is around 2.5KHz. The film sound "EQ raise" at 6KHz increases dialogue intelligibility and perceived crispness.

In video, sound is recorded without pre or post EQ. Video sound also usually uses inferior mics to those used in film sound. Film sound mics have a cleaner sound, and flatter response, sounding better than the mics used to record video sound. They are highly directional (rejecting extraneous noise).

Give your video sound's midrange an EQ bump, and a raise at 6Khz, and it will be more like how film sound is recorded. Get some decent mics, not the cheapies.  A Sennheiser ME66, or an Audio-Technika 835b, is mid-level, not terribly expensive, and really works well. Those will give you a rich and full sound.

You may not want to record double-system (sound recorder separate from the camera), but if you can, do it! If you have a Nagra or other analog tape recorder, use it.  They just sound better.

35mm mag film to edit?  Sounds great.  It should its a 1/4" magnetic track at 18ips, and if you fill empty spaces with slug stock, it's self-gating.

In film sound, the sound designer matches sound to the look of the film. A sad movie has mood lighting, and the sound will be designed to match it in emotional tone.  Its dialogue is EQ'd less crisply, with a lower-frequency boost.

In a happy comedy, lower frequencies are rolled off, and it's EQ'd and mixed to be "brighter."

Film sound is "sweetened" by manipulating room tone, premixing audio levels, and carefully considering dialog, music, and effects for their proper audio EQ.

Film sound expects post-production sweetening, which makes film audio sound so different from audio for video.  Video sound can be sweetened, but Indies use it pretty much as it is recorded.  Yuck! What can be done about it?  How can you make your movie sound like a real movie?

First, notice how video procedures are designed for quick-and-easy operation, and not really for quality.I think most video sound sucks because the camera operator is also the sound recordist, and the camera op doesn't care about sound.

He wants the framing and focus and color and bla bla bla. Sound is not his priority, and he's not really listening to what's coming through the mic and mixer and headphones.  He can't. For your sound to be good, you must care about it being good.

That care will force you to listen to your track, something most video hobbyists, and many filmmakers, simply don't do.

Until they've lost a film festival, and notice the winner has good sound. Or they see the one Indy film that comes along in a blue moon, the one with good sound.

If you actively listen to your track, you'll start hearing (it takes time to train your ears) all the junk you're recording.

You'll take the steps necessary (filtering, mic placement, EQ, editing) to discard everything that is extraneous.  Get rid of anything that doesn't create a mood, or push your story along.

You will put the mic just as close to your subject as you can, and roll off the wind noise, and use a fur piece on the mic, and only mix in enough room or ambient noise, and only when it's necessary.

If there's a single "most important part," I would say it is "gain staging."  Set your levels carefully - at every stage!

When we recorded in analog, there was a certain forgiving quality to the recording process.  Overmodulation would "saturate" the tape, limiting levels before actually distorting.

Now everything's digital, and if you're recording digitally (to DAT, CD, Mini-disc, or Flash Memory), there is very little "headroom," and much less tolerance for clipping, than in analog.

If your meter goes "into the red," the sound becomes a chattery digital nightmare.  It is ruined forever.  So make sure you use "-6Db" for your "0Db," to keep it clean.

Always "expect the unexpected" when setting your levels.  I've noticed actors always "perform" 6Db louder than they "rehearse," and musicians do too.

I always feed one mono signal to both stereo tracks, with L at the "proper" level, and R backed off 6Db or so.

If the sound gets too loud, L will distort, but I'll still have a chance to salvage that section of R, when I'm editing.

How much is enough? Experience will teach you. Listen! The major difference between how film dialog sounds and video dialog sounds is the EQ and compression that is used to make it intelligible and "fatter."  With practice, you will learn how to get that sound.  There is no shortcut - you must practice!

You will learn what distortion sounds like, and you will learn to set the gain properly, and boost the midrange or add compression in recording or mixing, when it's necessary, to push the important signal up out of the mud, and into your audience awareness.

How much boost? Again, experience.

That's why you need a Sound Mixer with sound as his only job, one who cares, with enough faith in his ears, and experience at setting the gain and EQ, and also a trained and experienced Boom Operator, with necessary skills to point and move the boom.

Make it clear to your sound crew that you consider sound just as important as the picture, and you expect good work from them.

Insist they yell "Cut!" if it distorts, and tell you when they need another take.

Don't make the mistake of letting "just anybody" volunteer to record sound.  Make sure they've done it before.

Just hanging a mic on a boom stand is better than nothing, but not very much better. Care must be taken at every stage.

Get the best sound you can, when you shoot, so your editing will go smoothly.

Few things are worse than an edit session that becomes an audio salvage operation.  It detracts from the creativity, replacing it with an air of desperation.  You want to edit, when you edit.

After your picture is locked, start the sound edit.  Split your tracks, so you can vary the gain on any element.  If two characters are talking, you should have each on his own track.

Cut your dialogue, and then effects.  Use your audio editing program to "normalize" your levels, and clean up the sound.

See what needs to be fixed, and fix it.  Some stuff can, like Boom mic crashes, and ambient noise, but if something is bad and can't be fixed, replace it with ADR, looping, and foley.

Foley is extremely subjective, that is, it's not realistic. You don't notice footsteps at all in real life, but in the movies, if you need to know somebody's purposefully walking along, the footsteps are loud and pure and pristine.

Tik, tik, tik.

Papers or clothes rustling, same thing. There are persons who make their living making clothing rustling noises, and walking and all those noises.  They're called "Walkers," or "Foley Artists."

I don't mind having to record every footstep and line of dialogue. I've done it enough, I know how to make it seem real. How? From doing it and doing it, so if you want to learn how, get started, record something.

In fact, I much prefer replacing location dialogue. This frees me to shoot with literally any camera, noisy or not.

Eyemo? Arri or Cameraflex? Mitchell, Eclair, Konvas?

All quite delightful results, if you record a track just to use as a guide track.

Or shoot two takes, one with the camera running, one without, but recording sound both times, and cheat the camera-less sound over the camera take, and cut it into sync.

Looney, but it works, and that's what I do, and I get good sound.

The harder and longer you work on your sound edit, the better chance your mix has to be good.

In my experience, looping or ADR are not all that expensive, when you have a vocal room in your house, and some good mics.

In a pinch, a closet full of coats works fine, or a tent made of carpet, hanging from the ceiling. Just put the mics away from your computer fan or open windows.

My friend Jimmy O'Brien, Editor and Dialogue Director at Universal for many years, told me he'd flown to NY and far-off places to record a few lines on occasion, if it would fix or change a line reading, or even change the whole plot line! I know much of what I know about film sound from a long-ago interview with Walter Murch, in an issue of "Filmmakers Newsletter," where he advised to replace all the lines, rather than just one, so they'll all match. Die-hard attitude, but his tracks are lovely.

One of those that comes to mind is "Apocalypse Now," which had virtually no usable sound when they entered post-production. Think about that - everything was ADR and Foley! Which brings me to the point in "making your movie sound like a real movie."

Real movies have real good sound tracks to start with, and are willing to replace most, and sometimes ALL the sound, to make it really good.

Use your imagination, to determine what process might make your sound "sound right."  Create a sound space for each scene that serves the story.  Use EQ and reverb and sound effects to create that space.

Compression is still a useful tool, even in these days of digital audio. It makes the "louds" quieter, and the "quiets" louder, raising the overall perceived level.  That makes the track easier to mix, because it is "pre-mixed."  The mix flies itself.

Use compression sparingly, so it doesn't make overall changes you don't want.  Rather than compressing everything, use your audio editing software to draw in your gain changes.

This is actually a manual type of compression, with intelligence, (yours).  Drawing in your level changes makes the track fatter and more intelligible.

Take all the time and care your movie requires, with only one outcome in mind, to make your movie tracks sound better. Have the picture scored by a composer who knows what he's doing, and get the very best mix you can.

Good audio takes as much planning as good picture, from start to finish.  Good audio doesn't "just happen," it is the result of careful listening, and time, and care.

Most video hobbyists don't give sound the attention it deserves, and that's why there's such an astonishing difference in quality between video and film sound.  Be different.

Start listening!  Take care!

Since it's no big secret that the world wide web seems to be bombarded with hundreds of thousands of downloading sites, many people are now facing a quality movie download delemma. This is something thats being caused by people having too many companies to choose from. The problem is whenever they make a decision to go with a random company, they usually discover that the movie downloading company they chose does not deliver all the popular movies everyone is after. Thats why I can understand the reason behind people why people are always looking for places to download moves on a regular basis.

The good news is there are at least ten good movie sites that are worth checking out. Going out of your way to compare the differences between each of them is something that I strongly recommend doing to solve the "where can i download free movies?" question which seems to be haunting a great number of people. Improve the IMPACT of the Intranet

A good Intranet site is not about technology. It is about internal communication and meeting your employee communications objectives
The idea that if you build it they will come, might have worked for Kevin Costner in the movie Field of Dreams, but it certainly does not hold true for Intranet sites.

If your Intranet has stagnated and is under used, it is time to work out how to attract staff back, even though creating and maintaining an effective Intranet is daunting. You need to identify what you want to achieve with your Intranet. You need to integrate your business goals as well as the needs of each department and its staff. In addition you need to keep up with the times and with the technology.

Even re-jigging the Intranet seems like a huge task. Where do I start?

As with any project, it is best to start by organising your team and defining the project. To start off with you need to answer basic questions such as:

What is the purpose of the Intranet?
Relevant to our internal communications goals, what do we want to achieve?
Who will use it and how will they use it?
What will it contain?
What functionality do we need to achieve this?
Do the big thinking first, and then break up the project into a series of smaller projects. You are likely to get more buy-in and gain more credibility if your staff gain a series of benefits, and can see a series of improvements over time.

Have a clear vision and do your planning

Start by clarifying your communications objectives. Your objectives should focus on creating value: selling more, saving costs, developing new products/services, attracting and retaining employees, etc. You may need to carry out some research or conduct focus groups to understand the value that different departments hope to derive from an improved Intranet.

Next, put together your team. Having an effective, company-wide cross-functional team is really important. It is a good idea to get a balance between representatives from IT, Comms and HR.

Consult with your Intranet team and key stakeholders to define why you are establishing or revamping your Intranet. Ensure your objectives and strategies align with the business goals.

Then:
Discuss what needs to be done
Identify problems and possible improvements
Drum up interest and buy-in across the business.
Plan the first steps and decide how you will track and measure progress.

Try these tools

A desktop staff poll can deliver company wide surveys to assess whats working and whats not with the existing Intranet. It can also gather important information regarding the tools and resources people would like to see included on the revamped Intranet. Desktop polls pop up on employee computer screens so does not add to email overload. Built in reminders help drive participation which ensures that all views are represented in the researchincluding the important but often silent majority who perhaps do not have extreme views or agendas and are less motivated to participate.

Staff surveys Poll should also be targeted to specific groups of employees, for example, managers and heads of departments. Such individuals can be asked questions such as what specific business value does / could your department derive from an effective Intranet?, How might this be quantified? For example, a sales manager may say it is the number of accurate proposals that sales people are able to produce. This research will provide an important perspective to help you make the Intranet effective and also help you quantify the value of the revamped Intranet at a later stage.

In addition to quantitative research, an online staff discussion forum is a good way of enabling staff to engage in online discussions. It allows you to tap in to the likes and dislikes of staff with regard to the Intranet as well as to capture innovative thinking and possible solutions.

Use a staff discussion forum platform that is easy administer, easy to use and cost effective. An employee discussion forum can provide a way to set up a secure Intranet project team discussion group. This is especially useful if timetabling meetings is problematic because key team members have busy schedules. A staff discussion forum allows stakeholders from other centres to be an active part of your team. Your cross functional project team can meet and discuss the status of certain aspects of the project, and share and capture ideas as they crop up.

Use an iterative approach

If your Intranet has started to stagnate, you may be tempted to go for a big fix. It may be better, however, to identify the key areas that need improvement, and plan for small but effective fixes. A series of successful, small wins will be much more effective than waiting for the one big, and sometimes elusive, win.
Dont let your Intranet grow haphazardly. Try starting with a small project that has a really visible and beneficial result. Make sure it is one you can deliver on. A quick and effective win early on in the project gives you credibility and creates an upward spiral of improvement.
Measure and report on the progress of each mini project, tweak your plans if necessary, or even re-evaluate your whole approach if circumstances warrant this.

Try these tools

Communicating incremental changes can sometimes be even more of a challenge than the actual project, because you dont want to overload users and send out boring updates every time a new feature is added. However, users need to be kept up-to-date, interested and believing in the iterative Intranet improvement process.

Promote your intranet gently through multiple channels, and monitor readership to make sure youre hitting the mark.

Use a staff e-mag that is pushed to employees computer screens. It can consolidate information into a visual, template format thats dynamic and engaging to read.
An electronic staff magazine offers a unique way of profiling your project without cluttering up either the Intranet or your readers email inboxes. Short news articles in the staff e-mag can inform readers of new information and the availability of new tools, as well as allowing readers to click directly through to the specific Intranet pages.

For project wins that you want to profile with more impact, try using screensavers. Screensavers as a staff communications tool can raise awareness of key news and updates by turning employee screensavers into dynamic interactive bill boards. An image is worth a thousand words. For example, an image of a deck chair on the beach with relevant text and a click through link is a powerful and engaging way to notify staff that leave forms are now available on the Intranet.

Targeted scrolling news feed that appears on employees computer screens, can provide a short headline and the facility for staff to click through to the specific pages of the Intranet. Choose a format that does not require users to opt in to specific feeds or for the Intranet itself to be RSS enabled.

Make it effective and drive usage

Our Intranet is great for me personally. I spend hours online.
Sounds great? But ask yourself whether spending hours online is a good measure of your Intranets efficiency? Intranet usage alone is not a measure of success. You need to find some way of ensuring that time spent on the Intranet equates to saving time, money and resources. Youre not just building a resource for the individual users benefit it has to be useful for the organisation too.

So how can you make your Intranet effective on a business level and make it great for staff on an individual level?

Start by finding out what would assist staff to work more efficiently, and what would attract them to your Intranet, so that when they visit your Intranet they are spending productive time there.
For example, what about making it easier to do all those regular tasks that staff undertake which often take up more time than necessary? Think about things like finding contact details, booking meeting rooms, and all the other myriad of tasks that eat up your staffs time.

Once you have planned and implemented your improvements, use other promotional tools to raise awareness of the new Intranet features, encourage disillusioned users back and to drive the usage and value of the Intranet. You could consider using screensavers, news feeds, alerts, electronic magazines, quizzes and polls as promotional tools with click through links to relevant Intranet pages (as well as other more traditional mediums).

Try these tools
A desktop staff quiz can offer an interactive quiz format that pops up on the employees computer screen. It can be a great way of working out what staff like and dislike, know and dont know about the Intranet. It is a good way of ensuring staff involvement, as it is persistent and it can be fun.

Business and product focused quizzes can contain links to the Intranet allowing users to research each question before answering. A staff quiz can be a real asset if you are aiming to improve overall knowledge, increase Intranet usage, and help staff find the content they need on the Intranet.

Silent staff quizzes and surveys only appears when a link or button is clicked by the user. This allows users to opt in to participate. For example, a button can be included on relevant Intranet pages allowing users to rate this content or report out of date content. When the link or button is clicked, the survey appears to capture user feedback. Ensure results are centralised in the content management system. This allows the Comms team to view reports at regular intervals in order to review Intranet effectiveness and / or send out update reminders to the Intranet content owners via a desktop alert.

An online staff helpdesk allows people who are unable to find the information or answers they need on the Intranet to ask a question in an appropriate online helpdesk. Moderators can be nominated for each helpdesk and receive notifications when new questions are posted. Moderators can answer questions directly or point the person to the correct part of the Intranet where an answer can be found. Each specific question is tagged and searchable, meaning that past questions and answers can be easily located in an evolving repository of knowledge.

John Travolta - Why Danny Zukos Car And My Wiper Blades Will Never Go Out Of Style

My passion for classic cars started during childhood after seeing one of my favorite movies, Grease. This article breaks down a few ideas that I pulled from the classic movie, both for the vehicle that I drove as well as some cool clothing ideas that I have sported over the years.

Go Grease Lightning, Go grease Lightning! Such a classic tune etched in the back of my brain. Ill never forget watching the race footage when John Travoltas white classic stainless steel steed launched over the water gap down in that Southern California sewer ditch, leaving Danny Zuko the winner. Also helping out with the whole situation was Sandra D. Every classic car should come with a woman like that.

By the age of 15, I was already gearing up to buy my first car, and it had to be a classic. I would rather own something that I understood under the hood than something that is smarter than me. I was scouring papers and the web and found great listings for Mustangs. Many were listed in our local Recycler. So the choice vehicle I went for was a 65 Mustang. They have such a classic and clean look to them and they look super impressive while rolling down the street.

This was a pretty impressive rig to own at the age of 16. I remember lots of heads turning when I used to park that beast in the student parking lot. One funny thing we used to do was we would point the wiper blades and water release vents out away from the windshields. So when the wiper fluid was turned on, the water would shoot out and hit any car or person to the side of the car. Im not sure if this was easily done to Mustang wiper parts or if it was just a special trick that we could do with some of those older cars, but it sure surprised quite a few when they would get sprayed.

So along with my pimped out 65 Ford Mustang, I kind of liked the whole greaser look that the T-Birds had. I had to go out and get a leather jacket. I found one at a thrift store, and along with a couple pairs of blue jeans, I was there. Pretty much a blast from the past. Its pretty funny how fashions come back around in circles. Perhaps fanny packs and slap bracelets will be the next fad along with Iroc Camaros and white Jeeps and every school. And maybe the fashions can really be connected to each popular movie that comes out. So Dont tell Mom the Babysitters Dead and Clueless can be blamed for such sweet fashions that will be coming back in the future.

I only wish that I decided to keep that 65 Mustang. Those classic cars will never go out of style. I have seen many of the new re-issues, the new PT Cruiser and the new Dodge Challenger. Theyre very nostalgic and are new solutions. But the real deal lives in the old steel. Road rage is best in an old classic.. just kidding :) But Im sure many of us have thought from time to time how nice it would be to have an old clunker to teach a lazy driver a thing or two out there on the road. And the ease of being able to work under their hoods is so missed nowadays.

I have convinced myself enough to jump back online and search for one of those classic Stangs. I bet they go for more money now, but they are totally worth the investment.

As such if looked upon in India, there are a lot many takersfor entertainment through movies and other stuff. Though the craze has alwaysbeen evenly spread across the colorful nation, there is something peculiarlygrave about the kind of fan following that is accorded to stars of the south. This fact can also be substantiated by the fact that all major moviesproductions are based in South India. Having said that there is also a kind offeeling in south Indian fans with respect to their stars and all and the spacemovie stars occupy in the minds of people in the south is something truly outof this world.

Though the trend actually started under the shade ofBollywood, it has actually grown out into a new identity and has a niche of itsown. The fact that much more films are made in south than anywhere else justgoes on to show the perplexity of the common man. The films normally producedare protagonist centric but the scripts have become more meaningful over theyears. There is also a heavy inclination in favor of the male actor and he isthe one able to garner all the sympathy of the audience.

The audience actually decides by and large as to how aproduct is presented to them. The case with movies in south is no different. The audience treats their heroes and heroines as god like and even temples aremade for them. Seeing the nature and proclivity of the audience the wholeindustry tries to make films to actually suit and meet the needs of theaudience in letter and spirit. In fact they have indeed been successful indoing the same year after year.

The budget of films range from small to big and in manycases surpassed the budget of Bollywood. In fact the costliest stars hail fromsouth Indian Films. Many a heroines like Deepika Padukone and others havestarted their career in the south Indian Industry and have gone great guns too.The whole aspect and way to look at the industry is actually undergoing a newchange. There are large investments from people not afraid to take that extrarisk. It has been a new trend in the movie industry to incorporate freshnessthat would actually appeal to the audience. In the process to do the same a lotof directors and producers have started exploring a plethora of options thesedays.

The use of modern technology these days is also shaping asto how the film is presented to the user. A lot of new animation techniqueshave actually made a huge difference to how a film is produced. As the audiencebecomes more cynic towards better quality and substance the producers of thefilm have started to respond to the changing demand accordingly though thebasics of the ever changing game remain the same.

THE USE OF DATABASES IN WEBSITE

There are lots of sites on the Internet, Movie Database,Monster.com, Amazon.com etc who offer ways to search, sort, and viewmassive amounts of data.

Each of these sites work on a relational database. Since these siteshave to handle a tremendous number of hits, they use big, expensiveRDBMSes (Relational Database Management System). The names for theRDBMSes they user is familiar to anyone who follows the Nasdaq: Oracle,Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, and Informix. These are pretty high endand huge databases.

The use of content management systems to allow website owners to maintain their own websites also requires the technology of relational databases. What is a Database?

In database parlance, the phone book is a table which contains arecord for each subscriber. Each subscriber record contains threefields: Name, Address, and Phone number. The records are sortedalphabetically by the name fields, which is called the key fields.

Database Programs:

To create and maintain a computer database, you need a database program, often called a database management system, or DBMS. Just as databases programs, too, range in complexity.

Other database programs, called relational database programs orRDBMS, are designed to handle multi-file databases. FileMaker Pro is arelational database thats easy to use and fairly inexpensive.

Database program tools:

A database program gives you the tools to:

  • Design the structure of your database.
  • Create data entry forms so you can get information into the database.
  • Validate the data entered and check for inconsistencies.
  • Sort and manipulate the data in the database.
  • Query the database (that is, ask questions about the data).

Using a database:

If mentions of programming languages make you feel youre gettingout of your depth, dont worry! Most of the database programs yourelikely to encounter can be used at a variety of levels.

Dealing with a Bed Bug Infestation

Nowadays, the small pests are seemingly making a big comeback. They are causing problems in movie theaters, hotel rooms, and college dorms across the country.

In the past, people had to deal with bed bugs on a pretty regular basis. That is where the saying Don't let the bed bugs bite came from. Nowadays though, the small pests are seemingly making a big comeback. They are causing problems in movie theaters, hotel rooms, and college dorms across the country.

Setting the Stage for Maximum Profit - Home Staging Tips from the Experts

The process of staging your home for sale is very much like preparingthe set of what will be an Award winning movie. You must set the sceneand atmosphere with the props and lighting before you begin filming. When you have attended to the behind the scene details you can thencall for Lights, Camera and Action!

A properly staged home can maximize your selling price and minimize time on the market by standing apart from the competition. Potential home buyers need to see your home as a place where they could live. Home staging facilitates this by creating a mood in which the buyer can envision living in your space by removing clutter, dirt and over-personalization. Professional home stagers live by the motto of de-clutter, de-personalize and clean, clean, clean!Home staging taps into the proven psychology of selling. Car dealers allow you to test drive a car so that you can experience what it would be like to own and drive the car daily. Clothing manufacturers allow you try on clothes so that you can see yourself in the garments. These experiences create an emotional connection with the product and set the stage for a sale. While potential home buyers cannot take your house for a test drive, or try it on (move in for a day), you can engage their emotions by properly staging your home so that they can visualize what it would be like to call your house home.Step 1: De-clutter We never seem to realize how much we have accumulated until it is time to move. The good news about de-cluttering your home is that you can begin to sort through what you truly need and want to move to your new location. The bad news is that you have to be the one to sort through it! People that are buying a home are typically looking for more space. Clutter eats space and can make rooms feel cramped and small. Remove excess furniture, knick knacks and items that are not being used. Remember to ensure that the cupboards and closets only house the essentials. Sort everything into three piles, garbage, good will or garage sale, and those items to be packed and stored ready for the move into your new home. If youre not sure what to pack, ask yourself this simple question. Am I going to use this in the next 1 2 months? If no, package it up for the move. Not only does this actively get your house in tip top shape for the market, but you can use the money from the garage sale to buy things for your new home.De-cluttering can pose special issues for children. Children may find it difficult to part with toys or clothing. Everything is special even if they have not used or worn it in a long time. Step 2: De-PersonalizeThis part of prepping your home for sale can turn into a special trip down memory lane. All those pictures and memorabilia are always in view, but people seldom take time to reconnect with their meaning. This is one of lifes opportunities to smell the roses, so go ahead, and take a few moments to enjoy! But make sure in the end that you do pack your personal mementos, family pictures and miscellaneous memorabilia. Generally, its an excellent rule of thumb to pack religious items, knick knacks, and small to medium pictures and items. Larger accessories and art work should be placed to one side for consideration when the home is later staged. Remember that you are showcasing your home as a canvas to which the buyer can insert their own style.Step 3: Clean, Clean, CleanUnfortunately for most home sellers, cleanliness is a major factor for buyers since other peoples dirt registers much higher on their ick radar. Theres really no way around it, to sell your home quicker and for the best possible price, it needs to sparkle. Buyers will pay special attention to the kitchen, bathrooms and windows. The following guidelines are recommended to get your home thoroughly clean. Start at the top of your home and work down Clean bedrooms, studies, and seldom used rooms first, the bathrooms, kitchen and utility rooms next. Save the porch, garage, shed, and attic for last. Pull all furniture and appliances into the middle of the rooms that you can clean behind and underneath Clean each room starting at the top and working down (ceiling, walls, trim and floor) Do the wet work first Washing paintwork, windows, laundering and shampooing Do the dry work next dusting, polishing, waxing Save the vacuuming until last this step removes all traces of dust and debrisOnce your home has been thoroughly cleaned, set a cleaning schedule that will allow you to maintain the look on an ongoing basis.

The DUI penalty in Florida

Some of the hottest stars in hollywood have gained the limelight once more last year, however this time, they were not promoting any movie or in a musical concertthey were arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Beverly-Hills socialite Paris Hilton and 'Mean Girls' star Lindsay Lohan were only a few of them who was on th spotlight for drunk driving. In another side of the story, more and more individuals have now been convinced that the consequences for driving while intoxicated is not a joking matter. Nevertheless, there still a few who remains to consider it as 'no big deal'.

The crime of DUI is considered to be a major offense here in Florida as well as in other states of America. This may be the reason why the penalties for such act are very severe and harsh. In fact, there were studies that shows alcohol-related vehicular accidents causes a person's death every 32 minutes. In the same way, such incidents can likewise inflict injury to any individual in a matter of 2 minutes. Adding to that, traffic authorities last year have cited that DUI offenders were able to kill more than a million innocent lives as a result of a DUI accident. And among the 50 states, Florida turned out to have the most numbered DUI arrests and accidents. Thus, state officials have since continues to formulate the best ways to minimize, if not stop, this misdemeanor.

Here are some of the most common DUI penalty in florida:
1. Fines - Monetary sanctions are the immediate penalty a person may face for the charges of drunk driving. The amount can range from $100 to $1000 depending on the frequency of the offense.
2. Jail Time - aside from fines, a person may also take some time in prison as a consequence. Jail period usually take some days to less than a month for first time offenders and may take several months to almost a year for both second and third-time offenders. There were also instances wherein the offender was able to have a decade or more spent in prison because of a DUI. This can only happen when a person was proven to commit a vehicular homicide. The latter meant that there were other persons on board the vehicle or other persons on the street or road that were injured or hurt as a result of the person's DUI act.
3. Driver's License Suspension - Aside from the fines, the suspension of a driver's license may also be one of the inevitable aftermath a person may face for a DUI charge.
4. Other penalty - other DUI penalty includes community service, probation, DUI classes, increased in insurance premiums (in the event you were found guilty and your car insurance knew about it) and installation of an Ignition Interlock Device.

Toshiba 32RV733

No matter what movie is viewed there is gradual degradation of black levels from side viewing angles beginning at 35 degrees.

In action, the LCD's screen quality is definitely splendid. Picture noise, even in one of the most complicated or smoky scenes, is suppressed perfectly and textures just like skin tones persuade. We feel the anti glare solutions presented within the television screen makes almost all weakness issues with color settings in addition to off angle seeing. It can be difficult to supply a broadcast display this size, yet the 32RV733 LCD makes a strong stab. It is actually generally free from disturbance and has the ability of creating vibrant, distinct images. Detail is really wonderfully clear and even good resolved even with fast activity, and textures are extremely realistic. Blacks turned into a bit hazy at side perspectives yet straight appear a good deal saturated. Discovering less focus grabbing programs, that include some standard definition football shows, the 32RV733 LCD TV does fairly well.

The HD display coming from Blu Ray and even Broadcast Hi def has been very clear, intense and amazing as normally, but unfortunately the graphic fails to look as heavy as a number of the more effective pictures we've viewing these days. For just a LCD however, we have been really impressed while using the 32RV733 abilities. Dark detail is brilliant, going greater along with darker in comparison with any television set before, whilst even now unveiling the required detail. Tone details has been high but no overpowering with high resolution content. No matter what film is displayed you can find gradual degradation of dark depths and even contrast from side seeing angles starting at 50 degrees. The sound system work very well, owning the power and ability could assume provided their price. Audio speakers shine as well, sounding clean, balanced as well as organized.

In most cases this Toshiba 32RV733 LCD in fact can achieve on its offers. Image edges from HD content were crisp, clean and detailed.. Sure, you pay a price regarding the 32RV733, however in case you can get that extra hit, you will be amply rewarded. I actually appreciated the graphic quality a great deal from center and front and was unable to locate the processing troubles the LCD shown about HQV testing. Toshiba pronounces that youeasily will be able to view high resolution high quality movie material at about 170 degree with no quality failure. The Hi def graphic seems perfect from average observing distances (816 feet) and we solely detected image fading together with colour decrease at probably the most intense observing degrees.

While the television is larger sized in comparison with a normal LCD because of its integrated canvas, the stand as well as frame placed above surface of the canvas provides it an exceedingly stylish side. Everyone love the style and look about the 32RV733 LCD television. Toshiba obviously took a risk here because of its layout, and most of us believe they put their financial resources in the right place. We would think it is difficult to believe Toshiba might possibly find a whole new LCD with an incredible gap over the previous fantastic variety; and, well, it has. Toshiba's latest selection of televisions are possibly the most desirable we'd ever noticed. The modern 32RV733 from Toshiba includes the latest and greatest abilities which the brand expects can continue Toshiba rivalling with the Class 1 suppliers. The remote compliments the television by having an equally modern, comfortable appearance.

First, the film is an overdose of vulgarity. Scenes with double meaning dialogues repeatedly come one after another to make the film look like a soft porn. While these scenes are blurred, they cause discomfort to viewers. Climax of the film has nothing and falls flat.
Manufacturers have tried very hard to give a message, but it lacked its own story to tell him. Public being confused for the first few minutes, as we can not understand what happens in the film. Comedy scenes are quite routine and stale. Director tries to reveal the story in the second half, which is also very predictable.

Technical aspects:

Sai Karthik's early songs are about right, and so is its background score. Cinematography is quite good, and the songs have been shot well. The assembly is not up to the mark, like most vulgar scenes could have easily cut.screenplay is disappointing, leaving the public in total confusion. Although the director has designed its scenes, the performance wise, it completely failed.

Verdict:

Overall, Galilo Telinattunde is a film that is high on the vulgarity, and is not well with the public. Only part of the youth, who loves the adult comedy can appreciate this filmto an extent. The rest can stay away.
