The trailers of Srirastu Subhamastu have impressed everyone all over. This film which has released all over today is quite crucial for Allu Sirish’s career. Let’s see whether this young mega hero impresses us and gets his much needed hit or not.

Story:-

Sirish(Allu Sirish) belongs to a well to do family which is headed by Prakash Raj. Things in his family get disturbed when Srirish’s brother loves and marries a middle class girl against his father’s will.

In this crunch situation, Sirish falls in love with a yet another middle class girl called Anu(Lavanya) and reveals about this to his father. An upset Prakash Raj, gives him a piece of his advice and asks him to back off from the relationship.

An adamant Sirish, challenges his father that he will win his love by not using his family name. In this process, he woos Anu and right when the time things start getting positive, Anu’s father(Rao Ramesh) arranges her marriage with some one else.

Rest of the story is as to how Sirish manages to convince both Anu’s parents and his and finally comes out victorious.

Plus Points:-

One of the biggest asset of the film is the feel good nature of the story. Even though the film has a routine premise and predictable story line, the way the proceedings have been narrated makes things entertaining. The film is filled with romance, family emotions and comedy in right doses and gives the audience decent entertainment. Interval bang is very good.

Probably, this is the best performance and look for Allu Sirish till date. He has cleverly played to his strengths and goes with the mood of the film which is quite good. Sirish’s performance in crunch scenes is decent and his hard work shows off on screen. First half of the film has romantic moments and the second half is filled with memorable family elements.

Once again, Lavanya Tripathi gets a meaty role and impresses big time. Her homely look and emotional character works pretty well and is one of the highlights. Rao Ramesh is amazing as the doting father and his dialogues and chemistry with Lavanya is endearing. After a long gap, Ali gets a hilarious role and all his scenes with Subba Raju are just hilarious.

Minus Points:-

As said earlier, plot of the film is ages old and has nothing much interesting to offer. Prakash Raj’s character is diluted in the end as the senior actor has noting much to do in the film except for the climax.

Even though the climax is good, it feels like it has been ended in a hurry. A senior actress like Sumalatha should have been given some more importance in the film.

Technical Aspects:-

Production values by Geetha Arts are top notch and they have not shied away from making this film look rich. Thaman’s music is quite pleasing and goes with the mood of the film. Editing is top notch as the makers have cleverly packaged the film in a neat manner. Dialogues written are very good and so was the art direction.

Coming to the director Parasuram, he has done a superb job with the film. After having a predictable story line, the way he narrated the film with ample entertainment and good dose of emotions shows his talent. He also scores brownie points for extracting a good performance from Sirish and showcasing him in a very decent manner.

Verdict:

Srirastu Subhamstu will surely be the much needed hit that Allu Sirish is looking for in his career. If he chooses interesting scripts like these, he will go a long way in Tollywood. Good performances, entertaining comedy and moving family emotions through out the film are basic assets. If you go in with an open mind and ignore the predictability of the script, this film will not disappoint you at all. A simple and breezy watch.

Story: -

Sambar Siva (Vishal) is a chef who owns a catering group. One day he agrees to organize a wedding notorious criminal of the village. When things seem to go well, a fight breaks out between the team of Siva and the bad.The group of Siva manages to fight them, but fled the village fearing the future consequences. They install in Vijayawada and begin to seek their livelihood.One day Shiva meets Aishwarya (Aishwarya Arjun) and falls for her. This is also the time when two rival groups start fighting for power in the city. A small fight with one of the gangs, Siva land in a huge difficulty.Who is this group? Do they have something to do with the past of Siva? How Siva go against them?. For answers to all these questions, you need to watch this movie on the big screen.

Plus Points: -

Vishal does a decent job, and is especially good in action episodes. Aishwarya Arjun made a decent effort. Although she did not have many scenes to accomplish, she made the most of his screen time.Santhanam's comedy is good in his usual role. Action episodes were designed and well turned. It was during the second half, the film picks up speed, and makes it a little interesting.

Minus Points: -

Pace of the film in the first half is quite slow. Scenes were trained at the base, and the placement of songs do not help matters much.Manufacturers have focused a lot on the action sequences, leaving the heart of the film. Tamil nativity might not be loved by the people here.

Technical aspects:-

the work of the camera is quite good in the film. How the action scenes were covered is decent. Editing in the first half was bad enough that many scenes could be cut to make the film crispy.Music by SS Thaman is just below average. Not even a song is good, and impede the flow of the film. Verdict:-

Overall, the Vishal adventure as a producer is not up to the mark. A first half slow and tedious, and a few moments of routine and boring spoil the fun. Give this movie a shot, if you do as an action desi hardcore Vishal.

Jackie Stewart the racing driver describes this human quality of George as an aura. An ability, as he puts it, to lift people's spirits, not so much as a learned skill but an inbuilt instinctive ability.

And in tandem with his great personality, his achievements are equally mesmerizing. Of course, he achieved so much with his music, not only with the Beatles, but with his first solo album 'All things must pass', which was the first triple album by a solo performer and was produced by Phil Spector.

An innovator, he organized the first music benefit gig of its kind, the concert for Bangladesh with Ravi Shankar.

The original name for the series was The 13th Hour, but executives changed the name to draw in an audience with the more familiar name of the popular slasher movie series hoping to develop a fan base from those who were hoping to get their Jason Voorhies fix. Rumors persisted throughout the entire 72 episode run that there would be some link from television series to the movies of that name, but it never came to pass. One of the most persistent of these rumors was that Jasons hockey mask from the movies would be one of the cursed items. That rumor suggested that the mask would be the final item that had to be found, but that was never the case.

The basic premise of the Friday the 13th TV series was simple: a man named Lewis Vendredi was supposed to sell a number of cursed items for the Devil but broke the deal. After his death, the antique shop and its contents were passed on to his niece and her distant cousin. The pair and the dead mans strange friend try to get all of the cursed items back so that they are not harming people- each item must be found, returned and then taken back to a special vault.

Although this TV series had a relatively short run, it is still occasionally shown as part of sci-fi channel special events, and it was also released as a box set in 2008 with the release of the first season on a six disc set. The third and final season was released in 2009 as a five disc set containing all 20 episodes.

Some fans of the movies were angered by the use of the name by the Friday the 13th TV Series; however, others were more generous with the choice of the name and became solid fans. It never gained widespread popularity, however, and remained mostly a niche show with a small but loyal market share. It still does well when shown on various venues with several episodes being deemed fan favorites.

This TV series was ambitious to the point of pushing the envelope of acceptability in terms of both the level of violence and sexuality it showed on the screen. What IS it with L.A. actresses and self mutilation ?

When actresses get silicone lips, the resulting trout pout ruins the movie for this writer. A curmudgeonly response to being asked to deny the evidence of one's own eyes.

Yet another movie was ruined for me this week by the inflated lips of the leading actress. I cannot take any character seriously who has paid someone to inject who knows what into her lips, inflating them until she cannot close her mouth or properly enunciate. I need a back-story to explain why the character made that utterly bizarre choice, why she is a woman of low self esteem and high ambition.

I understand why the actress did it, the pressure to conform to some mythological photographable archetype is very strong in Hollywood. More and more men and women are succumbing. Hair plugs for men, weaves, cheek implants , false chins, dental veneers, on top of nose bobs, hair dyes, skin peels. If youve got the money and the time and its important to you - sure go ahead. But when actors DO do it, they have lost me forever. Every role they play is for me a resident of planet Hollywood no matter how much the writer, director or the other cast members try to suggest otherwise.

Years ago, though I had enjoyed Pat Conroys book, when I watched the movie version of Prince of Tides, I could not get over Barbra Streisands manicure to get to her pivotal part in the story. It completely held me outside her characterization of the intellectual and empathetic therapist. I KNOW how long it takes to have nails like that, how much it costs, how unnatural they are, how vain it is, how useless those long false attachments make ones hands. No intellectual do-gooder could consider it time well spent . Ruined the film for me. And that was just a manicure.

Cosmetic facial alteration has become so commonplace in a certain sector of America that what might have been called ghouls fifty years ago are now commonly presenting on television or acting in the programs and movies. If people feel the need to present a false face to themselves and the world, that is their right I suppose. I dont understand it myself. A Review of Blade Runner and Other Sci-Fi Favorites

When watching Blade Runner you should try not to compare the movie with the book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Thats a book written by the best science fiction writer of all time, Philip K. Dick.

The mechanical pets are absent but there is a monologue discussing the absence of real animals in the future in the movie. I agree that the ending is quite different but this is necessary because of the different time and character development. It should be pointed out that Blade Runner features fine casting, good special effects and has a complex storyline and premise. All these aspects of the movie justice to Dock's writing style and genius mind. Rachel played by the stunning Hollywood actress Sean Young fits perfectly in her stoic replicant/human role. Another famous actor taking part in the movie is Harrison Ford who with his smoky voice is a hunter seeking out the hiding replicants. The interesting role of Pris, a replicant ballerina, is played by Daryll Hannah. With amazing make up and costuming she gives a special touch to the movie. The soundtrack of the film couldn't be better, it is utterly scintillating. It is a wonderful compilation of wailing wet sounds of the sax, drums and consistently expresses in Blues and Jazz which are romantic and surreal. This soundtrack relieves the epic, daunting and depressing bleakness of the reality of the future, just as the famous author Philip K. Dick has depicted it. The movie is frequently categorized in the cyberpunk genre-set. The main reason for this is because the action takes place in 2019 Los Angelis. There are cyber technology of cloning, hyped-up surveillance tools, and advanced investigative strategies. The latter are carried out by the Harrison Ford character, blade Runner Deckard. The director of this masterpiece is none other than Ridley Scott. He will always be remembered with such films as Andromeda Strain and blockbusters as Thelma and Louise and Gladiators. The movie is visually dark and you can even physically feel the darkness and the depression. The premise is true to the novel. Usually I would suggest you to read the book and then watch the movie but I retrain from offering you that as far as Blade Runner is concerned. As the comparison you will be making is going to interfere with your experience of this marvellous SF movie then don't read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep first. Watch the film, one of the best of all times, and then read the book. After watching Blade Runner you will be flabbergasted at the details of the future life, mentality and morality.

Director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti is known for his unique story lines and out-of-the-box films. Re-introducing Mohanlal to Telugu film industry in a full fledged role, he has come up with an unique project called Manamantha. Also starring Gautami as the female lead, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Manamantha is based on the lives of four different individuals. Sairam(Mohanlal) is a simple assistant manager in a supermarket who is eagerly looking to climb up the success ladder in his job.

Gayatri (Gautami) is a down-to-earth housewife who finds happiness in straightforward things and is always looking out for her friends and family members.

Abhiram (Viswant Duddumpadi) is an intelligent college student who has big aims in life and always helps others around him.

Mahita (Raina Rao) is a cute schoolgirl who watches out for others before thinking about herself. How the lives of these four characters change in a matter of a few days with an interesting incident forms the crux of the story.

Plus Points:-

The biggest plus point of Manamantha is the plot that the film revolves around. Chandra Sekhar Yeleti takes extra care to make sure it never bores the audience. He cleverly turns a family drama into an entertaining and unique thriller.

Even through the story line is simple, the screenplay changes the game and twists are introduced periodically. Another positive for the film is the near perfect casting. Mohanlal is a treat to watch and gets into the skin of his character with ease. His emotions and body language are splendid in the film.

Gautami proves yet again why she used to be the best in the business and is sublime as the housewife. Another actor who impresses is Viswant of Kerintha fame. He portrays his character well and is a talent to watch out for in the future.

Debutante Raina Rao as the schoolgirl is a surprise and walks away with all the applause. The way the suspense is maintained throughout the film and how all the story lines come together at the end was handled excellently.

Minus Points:-

The biggest down point of Manamantha is the cinematography. A movie carrying such a beautiful story line needs to have some gripping camera work. Visuals are not up to the mark and give the film just an okay effect.

Also, since the characters do not meet till the end of the film, fans might be a little disappointed. Abhiram’s characterisation could have been a little tighter. Anisha Ambrose’s role needed more clarity.

Technical Aspects:-

Being a Sai Korrapati film, the production values are splendid. Background music by Mahesh is impressive. Editing is apt and the different story lines have been woven nicely through an interesting screenplay. Dialogues are excellent.

Coming to director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti, he once again proves that he has ample amount of talent and this is clearly visible with Manamantha. The way he took a simple story line and made it thrilling is just amazing. He also excelled in extracting the best performance from his actors.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Manamantha is a unique family thriller which impresses you completely. Movies like these are rare to come by and when they do, they are a treat to watch. The near perfect casting who gets into the skin of their characters is seamless and undoubtedly the greatest asset for the film. It would be really interesting to see how the commercial audience lap up a serious film like this. Finally, Manamantha is a movie which can be enjoyed thoroughly. Go for it.
