Player Telugu Movie Review Rating

Release date : October 30, 2015

AuthorRating : 2.5/5

Director : Gnanasaghar

Producer : Yamuna Kishore, Jagadeesh Kumar Kallur

Music Director : Rajeesh Raghunath

Starring : Praveen Raj, Sahi, Nagineedu

Continuing with the trend of low budget films, yet another project tilted ‘Player’ has hit the screens today. Let’s now see how this Gnana Sagar directorial turns out to be.

Story: -

Jayadev (Parveen Raj) is a young boy who heads to Bangkok for his graduate studies. He is admitted to a high school and there he developed a good friendship with his teacher Michel (Nagineedu).Seeing his mathematical intelligence, Michael convinces Jai play a counting game cards and win more money. Interested in the money factor, Jai follows Michael and earns a lot of money. As time passes, I've discovered a shocking truth about his father, who is related to the dangerous Michael. What is the truth? How to escape Jai Michel and take revenge on behalf of his father? Which forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points: -

The unique backdrop is the greatest asset of the film. It is quite rare for a Telugu film has a casinoas the main backdrop. Moreover, the whole set up and how the different games played in the casino were presented is quite good. climax of the film was well managed.Young hero Raj Parveen did a decent job in the film. Nagineedu did a great job and is exceptional in both its roles of teacher and player. First half of the film is ok and has some interesting scenes starring the counting cards game.

Negative points: -

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the routine story. If you ignore the interesting backdrop rest of the story and narration is quite systematic and predictable. As the film is based on a card game, more clarity should be given on his technique.None of the scenes in the second half to create an impact on the viewer. Although there are very few characters, no emotional connect between them. No working relationships on screen and fail to evoke the necessary emotions. The dubbing voice used for the hero's bad enough. After a point, the film moves on the agenda at a single point and various other important factors are left out.

Technical aspects:-

camera work is very good and the credit must go to Suresh to present the film in a good light. The way he presented Bangkok, Hong Kong and also illuminated the casino set up with its amazing camera work is impressive. The music is pretty good, but the background score engagement lifts the film to a decent level. The film's production values are decent. Coming to the Director Gnana Sagar, he does a decent job with the premise, but failed in the execution of the film with a gripping manner.

Verdict:-

Overall, Casino has an interesting backdrop that is quite new to Telugu films. A correct first half and some interesting sensations are decent assets. But the film falls flat and turns into an average case below when a routine revenge drama is infused into the proceedings and said in a very predictable and tedious way.

SEO News: Google to Offer Pay-Per-View Movie Service Will it Stand Up to its Competitors?

Inrecent SEO news, Google is planning to launch a pay-per-view service throughtheir popular, high traffic site, YouTube. Will this endeavors be a success, orwill it flop like so many of their other recent efforts?

Later this year, Google maybegin offering pay-per-view movies via online video site YouTube. This willinclude new releases, possibly offered at $5 per film. YouTube already offerssome older titles for a rental fee of .99 to $4, but their catalog is limited.Google is currently talking with various movie studios, such as Lions Gate,Sony, MGM, and Warner Bros. about including their titles in the YouTubecatalog. New titles will possibly be offered the same day they are released onDVD.

Its also speculated thatthis service will be integrated with upcoming Google TV. According to Google Senior Product Manager Rishi Chandra, the purpose of Google TVis, "to bring the entire Web to the television setto take the best of what TVoffers these days and the best of what the Web offers and combine them."

Google TV will give television thenavigation capabilities of the web. This will benefit viewers and advertisersalike. Viewers can navigate TV to more easily find the programs and channelsthey want to watch. And advertisers can include links in their commercials totake interested viewer to the companys website, which will allow for moreeffective internet marketing.

Both the pay-per-view serviceand Google TV are speculated to launch around the same time. They can beintegrated in the way that those with the Google TV service can watchpay-per-view films on YouTube right through their televisions. This willprovide a more comfortable viewing experience than sitting at a computer deskor watching a film on a small laptop screen.

With the decline of videostores like Blockbuster, streaming movies over the Internet is where the futureof video rental lies. After all, you don't have to leave your house to get themovies, there are no late fees, and you don't have to worry about getting a DVDthat is scratched and won't play or skips constantly. Netflix, iTunes, and Hulualready offer such services. Will Google offer a worthy competitor? Or willthis service flop like so many of Google's other recent endeavors, such asGoogle Buzz or Google Wave?

Google is counting on thepopularity of YouTube to make their pay-per-view service a success. Currently,YouTube is one of the most popular sites on the web, with approximately 100million visitors every month, and an outstanding Alexa rating of 3 worldwide. This high traffic website already has a huge audience that will be aware ofthis new service when it launches.

However, it is possible thatpart of the popularity of YouTube is the ability to watch a bunch of shortvideos for free. Many people visit YouTube to see the latest viral video, watchthat funny commercial they keep hearing about (Old Spice Guy?), or watch musicvideos from their favorite artist when the have a little bit of time to kill. Willthe YouTube audience be drawn to visit the site to pay to watch full-lengthmovies? Or is the plethora of user generated content and short videos the maindraw?

Another factor that mighthamper success is that Google may be a bit late to the party. Netflix hasalready implemented an instant viewing service that allows members to watchfilms instantly over the Internet and video game consoles like the NintendoWii. Other services like Hulu, iTunes, and Amazon Video on Demand are alsogaining popularity as sites for viewing films and TV shows. Will the alreadylarge YouTube audience be enough to propel Google's pay-per-view service overits competitors? What will Google offer that its competitors won't?

It's obvious that Google istrying very hard to stay on top of the search engine and Internet realm. TheWeb giant already has plans for a social network that is said to possibly rivalFacebook, which will prove to be a daunting task. However, Google is willing totake on the challenge of starting its own online social networking site, andhas already acquired companies involved in social media services. Only thefuture will tell if Google will stay on top, or finally crumble.

The movie, Field of Dreams opens with a farmer standing in a cornfield. He hears a disembodied voice saying, If you build it, he will comeby the end of the movie the mantra has changed to If you build it, they will come.

The movie takes a religious theme and applies it to baseball. The story appeals to our sense of order in the universe, that if you create something exceptional whether it be a product or service, it will take on a life of its own and automatically be successful.

In reality, we know that that is not so. Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door. It didnt work when the better mousetrap was designed and it wont work now.

How are you going to reach your prospective customers?

Look beyond the features of your products and services, to the reason the customer would want to do business with you.

Developing an effective strategy requires a clear idea of who your core group of clients is.

Demographics age, sex, education, income

Are augmented by

Psychographics style, buying habits, personality, values, ideology, attitudes and issues of the day and the consumers stage of life.

Identify the main motivation of your customer, reach out and touch them with an emotional message they are compelled to act on. Each market segment has its own triggers, which is why it is ineffective to say everyone is my target market and try to use one message and medium to reach them.

Pain is a greater motivator than pleasure. Pain of loss, pain of being laughed at, pain of being left out, pain of looking old, pain of looking unsuccessfulwhat pain does your customer have? How can you communicate your understanding of their problem and the fact that you can take away the pain?

Motivation is also affected by current trends. Todays consumer doesnt believe in promises, anymore. You only have to look at the most popular shows on TV and the resultant association the phrase Youre fired conveys to see that people want reality. There is demand for an even a further extension of reality TV, demonstrated by the need to see what goes on behind the scenes.the real reality.

Stating a truth is not enoughform a connection. People look for verification of what they perceive to be a truth.

Delivering a clear, concise message, often, to a small group of receptive people is much more effective than using the scattergun approach.

Learning All About Action Figures

From superheroes to knights in armor to super villains to mutants, action figures are the demand these days! Made of plastic, clay or some other materials, action figure is a character figurine which is usually related to a movie, comic book, television program or video game.

Although these figures were introduced as a childrens toy, they have recently become an adults collector item. The introduction of these figurines was made in 1964 for the purpose of marketing the G.I. Joe figure that was introduced for boys who were unwilling to play with dolls. Hasbro chose the name action figures for this specific military themed figure, having changeable uniforms for a variety of purposes. Later, in the 1970s, the Star Wars figures were launched which gained immense popularity. Another famous line of figures ran from 1972 to 1986 and included the Big Jim figurines by Mattel. In the 1980s, developing these figures became one of the largest marketing tools for toy companies and popular action figures, based on cartoon series were introduced.

Some of the popular figures included Super Powers Collection, G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe and Thunder cats amongst others. Moreover, variant figures as well as specialized costumes were also launched and the most notorious of the action figures during this period was Batman. In todays world, people can now find these figures of athletes, musicians, celebrities, cartoons etc. The adult collector market has also expanded considerably and varying sizes of these figures can be found today all around the globe.

The prototype of the action figures is created with the aid numerous sculpting tools and modeling clay. Plastic resin like the acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is used to mold the actual figure and forms the main body because it is a harder form of plastic. For making costume components that include face masks, capes and body suits, nylon and soft plastics are utilized. In order to decorate the figure and add some color, acrylic paints of several colors turn out to be handy. Furthermore, for providing light and sound effects, some figures also boast of miniature electronic components.

First off, a character has to be selected before the design process is initiated. Sketches of the character are done and then the prototype is made with clay. Various tools are then used by the sculptor to make the entire figure which is then baked to allow the clay to harden. The manufacturer has to approve it before it is actually manufactured with plastic. The design can also be revised as per the manufacturers wishes.

Action figures boast of a wide array of characteristics to add more interest and a fun aspect for children. Body articulation is a common feature that can be found in majority of the figures.

Escaping from your Job Search Groundhog Day

The actor Bill Murray earned critical acclaim for his performance in 2003's Lost in Translation. It was a great movie about someone feeling like he was in a rut - both with his career and his personal life - and how he escaped from it. An even more striking example of someone stuck in a rut can be found in a movie Bill Murray starred in ten years earlier - 1993's Groundhog Day. Some of you may have seen the movie. Even if you have, I'd like to recount the highlights of the story for you and how this perspective can help you in your job search.

THE GROUNDHOG DAY STORY

In Groundhog Day, Bill Murray plays a weatherman who has to live Groundhog Day over and over until he gets it "right." To make matters more complicated, he is the only one who knows he wakes up every day and it's February 2nd -- to everyone else, life is progressing as usual. Plus, he has no idea why he has to live the day over and over again and no idea how to get out of it. First he tries being really mean to everyone. Then he tries becoming a criminal -- stealing money from an armored car and getting thrown in prison for drunk driving. He even goes as far as committing suicide several times. But no matter what, every morning he wakes up and it's still Groundhog Day.

He goes through a big slump of feeling completely worthless and mad at the world. Then one day he realizes he should really take action to go after what he wants in life. He decides to pursue a crush he has on his boss, an attractive woman named Rita. At first he tries using his super-powers of living the same day over and over again to gain information he can use to trick Rita into falling in love with him -- such as remembering her favorite foods and childhood memories. This doesn't work because Rita sees through the tricks and realizes he's not being genuine. However in the process, Bill Murray's character actually falls in love with Rita and with her passion for excellence and helping other people.

At this point, a transformation happens in our hero's life. Even though he's stuck in a rut and living the same day over and over again, he decides to make the best of the situation. Instead of being mean to people and ignoring them every day, he starts being nice and helping people. He starts learning new skills like how to play the piano and how to ice sculpt. By the end of the movie, he has really become an amazing individual - saving many peoples' lives and playing the piano in a brilliant concert performance for the townspeople. Rita, his boss, is genuinely impressed and truly falls in love with Murray's character, Phil. They fall asleep together after having had a deep and meaningful conversation, and the next morning it's not Groundhog Day anymore.

HOW THE MOVIE APPLIES TO JOB SEARCHING

The movie Groundhog Day is really a metaphor for challenges many people have in their lives - such as searching for a new job. It is an inspiring story about how most people can very easily fall into a rut of living a life they're not passionate about and how if they actually realize they're stuck in a rut, their first instinct is to just get mad at the world or take shortcuts to get out of it. As the movie illustrates, building a life that you're excited about takes a long-term effort. It requires a commitment to truly follow your dreams even if it means hard work.

Many job seekers do some of the actions that someone looking for a job should do - like sending out resumes or talking to networking contacts. But they're really just going through the motions and their perspective is one of someone who's stuck in a rut. If you have no inspiration and no passion, people will see that -- networking contacts, recruiters, etc. It's also easy to forget that the people you interact with in the job search process are human beings and not just a means to an end. Bill Murray's character in Groundhog Day was at first dismissive of Ned Ryerson, an insurance agent who interrupted him on his way to work every morning. In the beginning, Murray's character didn't even treat Ned like a human being -- at one point even knocking him down to get past him.

If you're just going through the motions in your job search and living like it's Groundhog Day over and over again, your results aren't likely to change. But if you start to live with passion and inspiration and truly connect with the people you interact with in your job search, you *will* get what you want. Bill Murray's character didn't need to know how to play the piano for Rita to fall in love with him. But learning that new skill created a passion and excitement that Rita was attracted to. Learning a new skill can have a similar effect in your job search -- employers like to hire people who are going somewhere in their lives. At the end of the movie, all the people of the town were singing Phil's praises because of all the wonderful things he did to help them. This contributed even more to Rita's falling in love with him. If you see people as human beings and use your time to help them, they'll remember and will be more likely to do things to help you in return.

TAKING ACTION

I hope this story encourages you to take action today to inject some passion into your life and really take your job search in the right direction.

Sher Telugu Movie Review Rating

Release date : October 30, 2015

AuthorRating : 2.75 /5

Director : Mallikarjun

Producer : Komara Venkatesh

Music Director : SS.Thaman

Starring : Kalyan Ram, Sonal Chauhan

Kalyan Ram is currently high on the success of Patas. After a brief gap, he is back with yet another commercial entertainer Sher. Also starring Sonal Chauhan, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see whether Kalyan Ram continues his winning streak or not.

Story: -

Gautam (Kalyan Ram) is a happy go lucky man who goes to any extent for her family. One day he gets into a huge tiff with a gangster named Puppy (Vikramajeet) and disrupts his marriage.A puppy bowled Gautam challenges than comes into his life as a lover or wife, it will eventually kill them. What is Gautam doing now? How could he save his family? and where Nandu (Sonal Chauhan) feature makes this whole establishment. Which forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points: -

As always, Kalyan Ram offers an honest performance. It is very impressive with its dances and looks graceful in the songs. The credit goes to director Mallikarjun for presenting it in a way quite elegant. One can easily say that it is the backbone and carries the entire film on his shoulders.Sonal Chauhan seems glamorous and good chemistry shares Kalyan Ram. First twenty minutes and the episode in the first half challenge was well designed. Brahmanandam is good in bits. First half of the filmis decent and has some interesting moments.Bang interval was well designed and the last 10 minutes during the climax was also treated well. Fights composed by Ram Lakshman are good and most elegant. Mukesh Rishi is suitable as the main villain and so was Vikramajit.

Negative points: -

Some key logic are absent big moment in the film. At least two or three scenes should have been added to enhance the whereabouts of the family of Ram Kalyan after such a major incident which is the point in the driving film. This thread was left alone and the film lacks emotion in various fields.Second half is a little messy as the procedure is predictable and boring. History is old age and has been used in many films in the past. There is no factor of interest or emotion that connects the audience throughout the film. Everything appears as episodes, but when you see them as one, there is something missing completely.

Technical aspects:-

Thaman's music is decent as he gave some interesting figures. camera work is as good as all the songs have been shot wonderfully. Scenario is below par and just click in the first half. The assembly is correct and so was the background score.Coming to the Director Mallikarjun, Sher is a much better movie from its previous business as it creates an interesting point of conflict in this film. But it was during the second half of what it loses grip and the film tells a predictable manner.

Verdict:-

Overall, Sher is yet another routine commercial artist who was released this week. Ram Kalayan sincere performances and a decent first half are essential assets. But a lack luster second half, logic-defying scenes and missing emotions spoil the fun. Watch it only if you have nothing else to do.

Don't Let the Movie Dentists Scare You

No matter how much pop culture tries to scare you away from seeing a dentist on a regular basis, you have to go. Remembering that movies are fake and that the real dentist office is not like the movies is key.

For one of Jack Nicholson's earliest movie roles, he played Wilbur Force, the weird guy in the waiting room at the office of the evil dentist that Audrey foolishly dates in Little Shop of Horrors. He was manically excited about the possibility of drilling and made a huge impression on florist Seymour Krelborn, as well as on every person who saw the film. For the remake, Steve Martin was cast as Orin Scrovello, DDS, and made all of us question whether we really loved him as much as we thought we did before the opening credits rolled. Wild and crazy guy, indeed.

Thankfully, that madcap character of musical fame is as unreal as Audrey II and her plot to take over the world. Your neighborhood DDS is fighting the good fight against plaque and cavities and gum disease as well as the bad rap his profession gets for saving your teeth and brightening your smile. Before you decide the guy who checks for cavities and gives you a new toothbrush every year is just the latest generation in a long line of boring guys who never do more than lean over open mouths and smell bad breath all day, take a little lesson from history.

John Henry "Doc" Holliday was a professional DDS. He might not be famous for his dentistry so much as for his participation in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral, but he graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery about a hundred and thirty years ago. You wouldn't want to go to him for a cleaning, but you have to admit he maintains some good, Old West street cred even now. Also, he was menacing only outside the dentist office. None of his alleged crimes were committed while he was living and working in Atlanta; those came after he became a gambler and temporarily settled in Tombstone, Arizona. Taking up with Wyatt Earp is bound to earn you a little infamy.

It is highly unlikely that the person kindly lecturing you about oral hygiene and looking after your dental health is or has ever been a gunslinger. On the other hand, he or she does battle gum disease to the death on a regular basis. It's death, of course. The good news is that this determination to beat back plaque will keep you eating your apple a day for years and years to come and make your trips to the dentist office much more pleasant.

No matter how many times pop culture tries to scare you away from your dentist office, keep going for cleanings and x-rays and even braces if needed. It is better to have popcorn temporarily stuck between your teeth while you watch Willy Wonka reunite with his dad the dentist than to have no teeth with which to chomp on Milk Duds. Also, that nightmarish headgear was completely fake.

No matter the time of year, going out for the evening whether for dinner, drinks, dancing or just a movie, fresh looking skin is desirable. Even if you have worked all day at home or the office, when it comes time to present yourself at night, you want to look fresh, vibrant and well rested.

No matter the time of year, going out for the evening whether for dinner, drinks, dancing or just a movie, fresh looking skin is desirable.

Even if you have worked all day at home or the office, when it comes time to present yourself at night, you want to look fresh, vibrant and well rested.

Men have it easy they can hop in the shower, shave, splash on a toner, finish with a moisturizer and voila they are set for the evening. Women on the other hand require poofing and other subtle niceties that pamper their bodies and their faces.

Long, luxurious baths, loofas, and rich, hydrating potions cosset and coddle not only our bodies but our psyches as well. Going out for the evening is special and if we want glowing, radiant skin we must pay attention to our shoulders, arms, hands, dcolletage as well as our faces.

The secret to better looking skin begins with daily routine maintenance that excludes harmful chemicals when we wash our hair and our bodies. Remember, your skin is the largest organ of your body and protecting it from excessive chemicals keeps you healthier longer.

Sesame oil is a wonderful substitute for chemically laden body moisturizers. Use organic oil from either your grocery or vitamin store (keep it only in glass) and apply it ten minutes before showering. It deeply penetrates the skin and what's most interesting about using this oil is that soap is not required. The yogis believe sesame oil possesses great healing power.

We definitely want to put our best face forward when we desire dazzling skin.

But what if your face looks gray, worn and tired? What if your eyelids are droopy and your eyes no longer sparkle? How can you perk up your cheeks without using tons of blush and ensure that your face glows with youthful radiance?

Making a last minute stop at the drug store to buy a new mascara or foundation hoping that these items will freshen your look will most likely leave you disappointed.

Brighter, younger looking facial skin is possible. Dullness is usually a result of an accumulation of old, dead skin cells maybe decades worth so thick not even udder cream could keep your face moist.

Dermaplaning is an excellent way to remove dead cells that gray our skin; this procedure is performed by a professional such as an aesthetician or registered nurse. With a scalpel positioned at an angle to the skin, the back and forth motion certainly removes layers of dead, environmentally damaged skin cells. For most, this procedure is a luxury.

Daily at home care is vitally important if you want your facial skin to look healthy and bright. You can begin right now by adjusting your eating habits so that you consume a lot less sugar, more vegetables and fruit, hydrating your body daily with filtered water, using less alcohol and salt, regular exfoliation and exercising your face.

Facial exercise can lift sagging facial muscles. Exercise creates a radiance that is deeper than skin care and makeup. When you exercise your face, you will see and feel the difference immediately as oxygenated blood is forced through the tissues. You can actually feel the muscles respond to the lifting movements.

This all natural cosmetic enhancement has many benefits over surgery and injections; in fact, facial exercise is so reliable it makes plastic surgery seem barbaric.

Think about it does cutting healthy tissue and then piecing it back together seem odd?

There is more than a healthy amount of trust required to allow someone to use sharp instruments to surgically alter your face. Your long term health could be adversely affected if there are unforeseen complications from excessive vomiting, over-use of prescription drugs, an undetected medical condition and more.

Even the finest surgeon cannot predict the outcome of your surgery or give you a money back guarantee if you are dissatisfied with the results. If you hate surprises, plastic surgery is not for you.

A word regarding serums that plump and paralyze; if you believe these expensive injections will stop your aging face, think again. Paralyzed and artificially filled faces continue to age. Do you really intend to fill your face and your body with unproven substances for the rest of your days? Your body may rebel resulting in sickness or even death.

Stick with facial exercise instead. You can easily develop the look of a natural facelift one that does not require cutting, injections, sutures or recovery. The radiance you create will greatly become you as your confidence soars and your youthful face returns.

Fresh glowing skin isn't just for evenings now that you know the secret.

Hence we have nickel cadmium or nickel (metal) hydride batteries which are commonly known as rechargeable batteries. The fundamentals behind the working of rechargeable batteries are that when it is charged, the electric flow occurs between negative to positive. This is just the opposite of when the battery gets discharged. You can easily buy a good quality charger for your rechargeable batteries or sometimes some gadgets come along with an inbuilt charger.

Since rechargeable batteries have also got a difference in how they are re charged. It also depends on the charger itself on what would be the rate of charging of these batteries. The rate of charge is determined by how much electrical current is allowed into the battery by the charger. If the batteries can handle high power charging, you can buy the charger accordingly. If you put batteries that need a lesser voltage charging into powerful chargers, there is a possibility of them getting overheated quickly and getting spoilt permanently. Thus batteries that require lower voltage will get charged over a longer period of time. In all cases, one needs to be careful tat the battery does not get overcharged. Check for indicators if available in the battery chargers. These indicators are of great help to increase longevity of battery life.

Out of movies released this Friday, 3G is a thrilling one: Neil Nitin Mukesh sees dead individuals. whether or not dead individuals see him back is not known at the end of this chilling serial, that starts off as a comment on the perils of intricately-manufactured cellphones and ends with a slap-in-the-face inquire into the pornography business that, we told, threatens to destroy the very foundation of our social structure. In 3G, Neil and also the pretty Sonal Chauhan play the couple a horrific vacation. confessedly the 2 build a attractive pair and appear to share a crackling chemistry. Co-directors Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chhibber reserve the initial parts of the loosely-edited film to observance Sonal emerge from the oceanic depths of the Fijian waters in gravity-defying bikinis to share slurpy kisses along with her co-star. Sheershak and Shantanu understand the basic rules of the horror genre that they apply to the film with restrain.

There are not any creaky doors, banging windows and banshee-like wails, moans and screams on the audio recording. Amar Mohiles background score favours a stimulating restrain, under-scoring instead of over-emphasizing the nippiness quotient.

Initially, the build from horror is completed with enthusiastic energy, with Neils descent into demoniacal possession sent with throat-clutching quality. The actors voice, eyes and body language chart the characters journey from holiday-time fun to surprising terror. Neil has worked arduous on conveying a sense of growing anxiety at intervals his characters devilish domain.

His co-star has comparatively less to try and do, and wear. Sonal does each with enthusiasm, and provides Neils character with a spooky counterpoint in the tale of the man, girl and the entity that enters their lives. The flick depends nearly fully on the couple to hold the chilling tale forward.

Grab the Headlines; Craft a Compelling Press Release

Have you been ... the news lately? Doesn't it amaze you that the media ... to report on every ... Taylor makes? She hasn't made a movie in what, 25 years? And yet, every time sh

Have you been following the news lately?

Doesn't it amaze you that the media continues to report on every move
Elizabeth Taylor makes? She hasn't
made a movie in what, 25 years? And yet, every time she sneezes,
its news.

Here, in India, Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra hogs the headlines. What
has she ever done, apart from marrying a non-entity and
producing babies? And yet, the press follows her around on a
daily basis.

The point is -- if the media can make space for someone who
hasn't really done anything interesting, they sure can give you a plug or
two.

Almost any event can be turned into news if you craft a compelling press
release. That means your press release must be "newsworthy", not promotional
material. Editors do not like promotion; they like news. You have a good
chance of getting a plug if your press release can convince the editor that:

You are offering timely and newsworthy information
Your company is new and different
You are doing something unique or are specialized in nature

Editors want news, a "different angle". They want to publish something that
their readers will like to read. Always remember this and you will never go
wrong with your release.

Here are a few tips to get you going.....

Develop a News Hook
Not every event is earth shaking. But even ordinary happenings can be turned
into a "newsworthy" affair. All you need to do is create a "hook" -
something unusual, maybe even bizarre that hooks the reader's
attention and keeps it. Often such hooks are a simple stunt;
e.g. the day "Turok 2: The Evolution" was launched, the gaming
company released large ads with a proposition for the public.
Parents of a child born on that day would get a $10,000 savings
certificate as a gift if they named their baby Turok. The ad
had its intended effect as numerous newspapers devoted thousands
of column inches to debating the ethics of this offer.

The Big Picture
Tie in your activities with a larger concern. When a
considerable number of people are affected by something, it
automatically becomes news. A veterinary pharmaceutical company
needed publicity for its mastitis care product. It sent out a
press release that stated,
"Mastitis costs dairy sector Rs. 6053 crores ($1.26 billion) every year"
Having grabbed the
editor's attention with the sheer magnitude of this problem, it then offered
its product as a solution. You can be pretty sure all the editors carried
this news.

Pyramid Structure
Newspaper reporters follow the Pyramid style of writing. All pertinent
information is contained in the first paragraph. Subsequent paragraphs
elaborate. Historically, editors have had a tendency to cut short the
reporter's
copy. So reporters developed this style to ensure that the
readers get the complete story even if only one paragraph of
their copy is printed.

Follow the same style when you write a release. Write a strong
leading paragraph with the most critical information. Your first
paragraph should answer the main questions: who, what, where,
when, why and how. This ensures that if the editor decides to
use just the first few paragraphs, all the information you want
to convey gets printed.

Watch your Words
Keep your release clutter-free. Use short, crisp sentences.
Break up large chunks of text into short paragraphs. Research
shows that paragraphs of 5-6 easily digestible lines help the
reader understand the subject, even if it is complex.

Avoid buzzwords, jargons, technical language and acronyms. Be
Balanced. Junk the hyperbole. Fancy fonts and vivid colors are
out. Editors prefer standard fonts like Arial (10 points) or
Times New Roman (12 points).

Finally, do a word count. A good release says what it wants in
less than 500 words.

Spice it up. Just a Little
Include at least one hard-hitting quote in your press release.
It's your best shot at getting into newspaper column space. Reporters would
rather include a smart, concise quote in their story than give a lengthy
explanation or summary.

Quotes are an opportunity to emphasize your key points, so quoting your CEO
or top executive is a good idea. Supporting quotes from analysts and
customers add credibility to the announcement and key the reporter in to the
fact that there are people available that they might be able to interview
for a story.

Make yourself available
Reporters like to dig for more information. They are always trying to find a
"different slant". They may not want to print a standard press release. They
are more likely to contact you for a personal quote or unpublished
information. So, make it easy for them to contact you. In your release,
include the line, "For further information and clarifications, contact
So-and-so." Give your contact information: phone, fax, email, and office
address. And then, be available. And have some extra information to share.

Create a Press Kit
The press kit includes a background piece, press releases, photos of your
executives or your products, more story ideas, reprints of previous articles
about your business, a list of customer references and anything else that
the media might find newsy or just be a simple fact sheet on you and your
company. The media may not use everything you give them. But they will keep
it for future reference. And it's
a great way to build a relationship with the press.

If you have got this far, you must have grasped the secret by
now. The trick to a compelling press release is very simple.
Learn to think like a reporter. Put yourself in her shoes.
Anticipate her needs. Then, write a release that answers her
questions. Before she can ask them. Simple,
isn't it?

Go grab the headlines!
