There are varying viewpoints on the making of a movie about United Flight 93. My piece is not intended to take any particular position about the movie's production. My purpose is to honor the courageous actions of the flight's passengers. Courage that should be honored and emulated.

Ive read various theories about the final minutes of United Flight 93. But for me there is only one certain truth. The courageous actions of its passengers.

Whether or not we think a movie should have been made about this flight doesnt change the fact that its part of our American history. Our national narrative. The unfolding saga in the war against terrorism. A war that often seems without obvious rules and clearly against an enemy without country or ethical boundaries.

Its certainly not the first time that Hollywood made a movie depicting a national tragedy. The same could be said for numerous books and songs. We seem to be a people who like to record our events and feelings about those events.

Without question the actual details of those final minutes can only be guessed. Phone conversations between passengers and relatives tell us passengers became aware their hijacked plane was likely to be used as a terrorists weapon. And . . . that they must do something.

So, the courage of everyday people is told in a movie some refuse to see, some feel they must see, some criticize, some praise.

And what of courage?While there are numerous stories of courage described in the Bible, the one which comes to my thought first is David battling and conquering Goliath. David was a shepherd-boy who volunteered to do what trained soldiers feared they couldnt.

Ive always loved this story. The setting was army against army. An enormous and frightful soldier from the enemys camp, Goliath, made a challenge for one man to fight him. David wasnt in the army. But his brothers were. Their father had sent David to his brothers army camp to bring food.

He was obedient. He wasnt looking for fame and glory. Davids noble desire was to help and he believed with all his heart he could.

At first the army leader questioned Davids ability to face such an experienced soldier since David was a mere boy. He said, You cant go and fight this Philistine. Youre too young and inexperienced and hes been at this fighting business since before you were born. Yet leading spirituality author, Mary Baker Eddy wrote, individuals strength is in proportion to their courage.

What kind of courage did this young boy have, which I believe was also the kind of courage Eddy was speaking of? Not animal courage often flaunted by impetuosity, brashness or daring. But moral courage, exhibited by Davids fortitude, determination, and undaunted spirit.

And its these qualities of moral courage that I have no doubt strengthened the hearts and emboldened the actions of passengers on United Flight 93. Qualities that must surely be part of the foundation of all right thinking and acting.

What greater actions are there than to do what is right? Actions impelled by pure and selfless motives. Not prompted by ego or inspired by grandeur of self.

Do you think such qualities are reserved for the few?With God the Father-Mother of all, my hope and expectation is that surely all of His children have all they need at every moment. Would not this include moral courage as an ability that is instilled in each of us by God? Completely independent of and unlimited by physical prowess.

Moral courage guiding our thoughts, decisions, and actions shows us how to be better men and women. Gives us the strength to overcome seemingly overwhelming human odds. Enables us to fight the good fight.

I have no doubt the passengers on Flight 93 fought the good fight. Theres no question their actions were compelled by moral courage. I deeply wish the outcome of their success could have resulted in their lives continuing with their loved ones. But their example of courage lives on.

Their example assures you and me that we are also armored in the strength of moral courage. That we can go forward through our lives prepared to battle and disarm any Goliath.

Whether or not everyone goes to see the movie of United 93 doesnt stop us all from honoring and remembering its passengers. Everyday people with moral courage. Courage we can discover within ourselves. Courage of better men and women who people a better world.

In that scene, the psychic keeps telling Tom Cruise to Wait! Waitwaitwait. Shes telling him to wait for the moment of perfect synchrony, when a man with a huge bunch of balloons will stand in just the right place and hide them from their pursuers. The whole time shes telling him to wait, though, Tom Cruise is anxious and ready to run.

Now doesnt that sound like scene from our own lives? At least, thats how the Universe would see us as we go about our daily activities. Heres what it sees: we ask the Universe to bring us something and the Universe immediately leaps into action to bring it to us. But rather than simply waiting for that moment of synchrony, when all the factors come together in perfect order, we leap into action and try to make everything work. If we would just wait for the moment of perfect synchrony, as Tom Cruise did in the movie, we would find that it would come to us easily, peacefully and without fuss.

In this society, we have an extreme bias for action, productivity and achievement. We believe that we must do everything in our lives, so were always in motion. In fact, its worse than that. Not only are we in motion almost every waking moment of every day, but weve also planned out our active motion for the coming days, weeks and months. Whether its work, PTA meetings, hobby-type activities or sports, we are completely booked. Or even if we arent physically booked at every moment, were so mentally busy trying to figure it out that we might as well be doing something physical!

The result of all of this scheduling and mental gyration is that we dont have any room in our lives for synchronicity. We have literally left not even the smallest crack through which the Universe can squeeze through that which weve asked for and we wonder why the Universe doesnt deliver!!

Manifestation, contrary to popular belief, is neither a totally active sort of thing nor a totally passive waiting. It is an active anticipation of whats to come, a joyful expectation accompanied by inspired activity. In manifestation, you get a boost of anticipation followed by inspired ideas, followed by joyful activity, followed by yet more anticipation.

Its like walking a winding, hilly trail. When youre at the bottom of a hill, all you can see is the top of the next hill or curve and you anticipate what you might see at the top. Youre so excited by what you might see, that you take action and walk up there. Once there, you see a magnificent view, and also the next phase of the trail. This leads to more anticipation drawing you forward, more action and more pleasure. You see, it is an active participation in life of all your senses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual with appreciation and pause regularly interspersed.

If it seems like the Universe isnt delivering what youve asked for, you might not be leaving enough room in your life to let it in. To create some room, take one day a week, if possible, and schedule nothing. Let that day be a blank canvas on which the Universe can paint its perfect synchrony. If you cant take a full day, take at least a few hours for yourself every week and see what magic unfolds! Enjoy!

The Philharmonic opened with three dance tunes from this story of three sailors looking for action while on liberty in New York. Lively, jazzy, and stylish, the songs perfectly embody the vibrant energy of the great city. On the other hand, the plot sounds like most bachelor parties right here in Vegas.

Poker, anyone? In 1936 Igor Stravinsky wrote Jeu de Cartes (the card game). In this beautifully orchestrated ballet in three deals, the queens do a flirtatious dance and the pompous joker makes recurring mischief before being ultimately defeated by a royal flush. As in Samuel Barbers tone poem about Prometheus, the music describes a scene and action, but while Stravinskys music makes for great listening, I often couldnt tell the queen from the joker. Remind me to stay out of the casinos around here.

Bejeezus: n. 1. a spirit of calm and safety existing within most humans and just waiting to be scared out.

If youve heard the first part of Carmina Burana on classical radio stations or in movie soundtracks, youve probably also heard it replayed in your worst nightmares. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi, is the apocalyptic opening that cries out, Monstrous fate . . . you plot against me by trickery, so that my naked back is exposed to your lashes. Imagine those words belted out in Latin by a chorus of almost one hundred people from the Las Vegas Master Singers and Las Vegas Philharmonic Chorus, backed by the orchestra with five booming tympani drums. When Fortuna ended, I was still too riveted to snicker at the audience member who broke the inter-movement silence by exclaiming, Wow!

It may not surprise you to learn that the lyrics of Carl Orffs 1936 masterwork are taken from poems written in a Bavarian monastery in the Middle Ages. (The title means Songs of the Benediktbeuren.) The twist is that the poems written mostly in Latin, with bits of Old German and Old French are satirical and quite pagan, and they deal mostly with themes of gambling, drinking, and springtime lust. Some dreams are the same all over.

Carmina continues with Primo Vere. It is a song of spring, but the somber tone suggests that the monks are expecting to be smitten by a vengeful God for even thinking about those young women with fresh tan lines. Fortunately the mood soon brightens, with the sonorous baritone of guest vocalist Anton Belov carrying melodiously over a string accompaniment: . . . and the bright fields laugh with flowers. By the end of the section, the music is happy to the point of silliness, and the final words are Id still prefer instead, to have the Queen of England lying in my bed. Still sound like monks poetry? I hope the queen was much younger then.

I am the abbott of Cuckoominster! Belov sings whimsically in a section called In the Tavern. However, the most musically stunning part is a lament sung in very high, tight notes by guest tenor Matthew Garrett, accompanied by flutes suggesting waterfowl: The lake was my home, and I was beautiful when I was a swan. Oh, misery! How black I am and thoroughly roasted! Given that this is a tavern song, thoroughly toasted may be more accurate.

The next section, The Court of Love, features the surprisingly rich voice of guest soprano Suzan Hanson: There was a girl, who looked like a rose; her face shone, her mouth blossomed. Ah! Theres a lot of playful back-and-forth between soloists and chorus in this section, and the entire work is structured in repeating blocks that give it a wonderful rhythmic quality. An exuberant finale (abundant Venus!) deceives the listener, leaving him unprepared for the sudden reprise of the nightmarish Fortuna section at the end: Lament with me, all of you, for fortune strikes down the strong man!

What a buzzkill.

Actress Natalia Nazarova plays a charming and heart warming role as Viktoria, an unsuspecting mail order bride from Russia, in an independent film titled Postmark Paradise. Nazarova has been very busy woman. Besides filmmaking, the world of music has been blessed with her many talents via some fine jazz and pop vocal albums. This is her first American film role.

Natalia is charming in this film and anyone that watches it will surely fall in love with her character. The classic underdog theme makes a good storyline and is a sure-fire hook for those that like movies full of the emotion and the story of peoples lives. For her American debut, this is a fabulous effort. This young lady is star material and I would hope that someone influential in Hollywood will have sense enough to give her a chance as a leading lady in a major motion picture, I am sure she could handle it quite well. I became very engrossed in this picture and enjoyed it entirely. There was fine acting in this film; all of the characters were true to life, which made it easy to become a part of the story, as if you were right there living it.

The story of the film begins with a TV newscaster explaining how gorgeous and eligible Russian girls are looking for an opportunity to come to America and marry any willing American man, then the scene changes to the bar The Dirty Shame located in Paradise Michigan. A group of local men are in the bar feeling good and decide to check into the mail order bride phenomena. Chick (Randall Godwin) masterminds the execution of the mail order bride for their friend Jake (Vincent Angelini), who is doing time in jail for drunk driving. The expectant bride Viktoria, is delivered at his homecoming party at the bar.

When the big moment arrives, Jake comes strolling into the bar and Viktoria stands up an introduces herself with a big beautiful smile and Jake takes one look at her and shrugs his shoulders, sits at the bar, and starts drinking and telling stories. Jake has no clue what this is all about, he is taken home later in the evening falling down drunk, thinking that the girl is a present for the night from his drinking buddies. That night Viktoria leaves in distress and Reenie (multiple award winning actress Tantoo Cardinal), the only barmaid at The Dirty Shame, sees her walking down the road crying. Many more life situations and drama develop thereafter.

The film tells a unique version of the American dream in small town America, following several twists and turns, the story ends unexpectedly, which I found most pleasant and satisfying. Natalia performs several of the songs in both Russian and English on the films soundtrack. Look for it about June 29, on DVD and Video. Rated PG-13

‘Ampasayya’, the award winning novel has now been made into a full length feature film titled Campus and has hit the screens today. Directed by Prabhakar Jaini, let’s now see how this film turns out to be.

Story:-

The film is set during the early 70’s in Hyderabad. Ravi(Shyam Kumar), who belongs to a small village comes to Hyderabad and joins Osmania university to pursue his higher education. Things seem to go fine until one day when Ravi suddenly starts getting mentally depressed and spoils his health.

What happened to him suddenly ? What is his depression all about ? and How will Ravi come out of it ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:-

The backdrop of the film is quite interesting and has been set in an interesting premise. Shyam Kumar who does the central character has done a decent job. The young actor portrays all the various tensions through his role well.

Pavani, who did the role of Rati is ok in her character. Some of the confrontation scenes between the lead pair during the second half have been executed well. The problems that rural villages in Telangana faced during early years have been showcased well.

Minus Points: –

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the lack of hardcore emotions. The novel from which the film was made had strong emotions but sadly, they are completely missing in this film. There are many scenes which are quite repetitive and irritate the audience.

As the film happens in a day in the life of this youngster, there was a huge scope for the makers to showcase the proceedings in a thrilling way. But sadly, things go haywire as these important factors are pushed aside. Climax of the film is also not convincing and has been wrapped up in a hurry.

Technical Aspects:-

Director Prabhakar Jaini chooses a novel concept but fails in his execution completely. Whatever feel and grip the novel had, is totally missing in the film. Neither the emotions or pain of the young man have been showcased convincingly in the film. Production values are pretty good and so was the art direction. Music was just below average and so were the dialogues.

Verdict:-

Whenever you make films based on famous novels and hard hitting subjects, one should be very careful in executing them perfectly on the big screen. But sadly, the makers of Campus fail to narrate the film in a gripping manner and miss out on major emotions making this film a tedious watch this weekend.

Story: -

Aravind (Nani) is an honest young man who opposes injustice and corruption. It goes to any extent to do good for society and the land of corrupt people behind bars often. One day, he decided to meet the corruption in government offices and collect key evidence against a minister and some other officers.He also filed a case and manages to reveal corruption. Upset by this, the Minister decides against evil-attack and introduced him look like Aravind named Maya Kannan. Rest of the story is how Aravind manages to cope with all its problems and send the corrupt behind bars.

Plus Points: -

The character of Nani Maya Kannan in the second half is the main highlight of the film. You will see a new dimension to the game of Nani as he will surprise you with its power packed performance. body language, delivery of the dialogue and how it portrays the negative nuances are too good. For the first time in his career, Nani has a dual role and excels in both.
idea of the story is quite new and the manager so Samutrakani reported the social message is also good. The last 20 minutes before the interval are engaging and were executed very well. Amala Paul is wonderful as the next girl. Ragini Dwivedi supports able to the character of Maya Kannan.Sarath Kumar is perfect in its appearance and is Shiva Balaji as a television journalist. Vennela Kishore manages to make a few laughs in the first half. The episode of the court during the climax was well developed.

Negative points: -

major drawback of the film are the first 20 minutes. Story of the film is dragged insignificant as the procedure takes time to unfold. The love track between Nani and Amala Paul is below par and becomes an obstacle on the road during the first half. As the film is oriented messages, entertainment levels are a little low. Even if there are only two songs they have also been cut.After setting the range block with enough verve, the film slows slightly. As the twist in the tale is revealed during the interval, scenes for the post interval become predictable. Film length is too long as many stages during the second half could have been cut.

Technical aspects :-

Camerawork in the film is top notch all the visuals were presented beautifully. background score G V Prakash student film to another level. As said before, many unnecessary scenes could be easily modified. Action episodes might have also been designed better.
Coming to the Director Samudrakani he did a decent job with the story, but added unnecessary marketing elements that stops the flow of the film freely. Sashankh Vennalakanti dialogues are pretty decent.

Verdict: -

Overall, Janda Pai Kapiraju is a film that Nani will be extremely proud. It impresses us in two different roles and gives a commendable performance. interesting social message, interval shot are essential assets. If you can sit through the long episodes and unnecessary trade, you might end up liking this powerful film.

I love the Disney movie The Kid with Bruce Willis. In it he plays a stressed-out, high-power image consultant. He wears expensive suits, lives in a chic, elegantly furnished home and has all the money he can spend. His biggest challenge comes when a young boy-his younger self-comes to stay with him. He doesnt recognize himself at first, but then comes to see that he can heal himself by comforting the boy he was and accepting the man he is. (Dont worry, theres still a lot of other fun, surprising stuff that happens so I havent TOTALLY given the plot away.)

Often when I work with people who are anxious or uncomfortable with public speaking, they recount past experiences of perceived failure. They tell me their stories of screw-ups, stumbles and faults, all with a tone of humiliation and self-flagellation. They use critical, blaming language to describe themselves such as I was so stupid, I was pathetic, Ive never forgiven myself for that. Take the burden off his/her shoulders as you both let it go. Imagine a conversation between your present and former selves. What went wrong that day? What was learned? How can the present you and the former you work together to speak up with more confidence in the future?

You may have several past selves to forgive. Picture each past self who disappointed you and go through the same process. You might be surprised at how this can lighten your load and ease your discomfort.

We cant improve in an atmosphere of self-blame and criticism. When we speak, all we can do is the best we can do. Sometimes we succeed. Sometimes we fail. But chastising ourselves for past mistakes can only hold us back. Let your selves off the hook and move on. Forgive the person you were and accept the person you are. We were the boss, or the perfect one, or the peacemaker, or the scapegoat, and we carry those roles into our adult lives. But why should we? If the role is serving you, so much the better. If its not, its now your own choice whether or not to play it.

It assumes that your greatness is temporary. Heres the biggest one. You were never created to be mediocre. You were only ever meant to be great. Though they had been around for awhile, secret compartments in desks, inspired by the Italians, became popular in English and American cabinet making around 1720. The trend continued for about 100 years, and though later ones can be found, they were not as common. One reason that they became desirable was for strictly functional reasons: a secure place to keep valuable documents, money and jewelry. Today we use safety deposit boxes and safes, but they were not in existence back then, so hidden compartments helped people feel secure.

Some desks would have only one hidden compartment, others would have many. In one simple slant top desk, 21 hidden cubbies were discovered. Some compartments are a decent size, and may be found under false bottoms in a drawer. Document boxes were one type of larger hidden compartments that became quite common for awhile, often hidden behind the half column pilasters that flanked the central section. Other secret compartments are quite small with just enough room for a few folded bills or perhaps a small piece of jewelry.

Some secret compartments in desks could only be reached by removing a series of regular drawers, others were concealed behind ornamental trim. Some were opened by raising them up with a fingernail or letter opener, and others were held in place with a wooden spring that first had to be released. After seeing a few of these hidden compartments, one has to admire the ingenuity of the cabinetmakers of the time. The Check From The Universe

Have you ever heard that story about how Jim Carrey wrote himself a check for $10,000,000.00 when he was a struggling actor? He carried it around in his wallet every single day. Each time he opened his wallet, he couldnt help but look at it, and when he did, he would envision what it would feel like to make that much money on one movie.

Needless to say, Jim Carrey has gone on to make $10,000,000 per movie, and much, much more. Hes one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. Ive been using this same principle for a while, as it relates to my business. I used to say to myself, I am a happy, healthy multimillionaire helping others but I found that sometimes I couldnt connect to that feeling place right away. Sometimes, multimillions seems a little out of reach for me.

So, I decided to make it more tangible for me, more realistic and less of a stretch.

As Napoleon Hill said, what you can conceive and believe you can achieve. My goal this year (and practically every year) is to make twice as much, working half the time. Trust me, I know Im successful now, by most peoples standards, and Im super grateful for that.

I know that I add value to peoples lives, that I give them not only the TOOLS to succeed, but help them give themselves PERMISSION to succeed. I know that its a good thing to make money, because you then enrich others by hiring them, by using peoples products and services, and you can support the charities you really care about (for me, its Self Esteem for Women.)

Whenever I make more, I enrich others more, and that feels good.

But I also know that Ive worked my butt off to make that happen. Long hours, lots of back-to-back coaching clients, almost too many for any sane person.

This year for me is about helping many, many more people than Ive been able to when all I did was private coaching. Its about having lots of leveraged income (groups and events vs. one-on-one coaching) so I can add more value to more people, while being more successful and having more down time to create more content.

NOTICE your own limiting beliefs around the work ethic, notice your money gremlins, and understand that the very same thing OR MORE is available to you too, right now. You just have to believe that it can happen, one way or another.

Write your own check. Here are the elements to make sure you include:

1) Be specific with the NUMBER you have in mind
2) Make it clear that you are willing to receive it NOW or SOON (not 10 years down the line)
3) Make sure you state that it wasnt about working your fingers to the bone, but rather, working less.

Another way to use this check to attract a perfect client is to include it in your Empty Client Folder exercise we talked about earlier.

1) Figure out how many clients youd like to attract this month. (Well use 3 for this example.)
2) Then, get clear on how much youd like to make for each new client youre trying to attract this month. (For this, well use $5,000.00.)
3) Then, write out 3 checks for $5,000.00 each.
4) Once youre done, put one $5,000.00 check in each Empty Client Folder.

This exercise tells the universe youre essentially being VERY specific with about what youd like to attract and you are making your intention very strong. Do that today, OK? It only takes a minute and it is SO powerful

The previews ended and the movie was starting, or was it? Black screen and no sound. It took me awhile to realize, but I believe the director was trying to get the audience to be present. I of course was in the future, "When's something going to happen?" Being in the moment is one of many enlightened messages in the movie, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior. It was one the first books on spiritual growth that really made a difference in my life.

The story is about a chance encounter with a wise stranger that changes the life of a college gymnast, and is based on real occurrences in Dan Millman's life. Dan Millman is the author of many self-help/spiritual growth books, Peaceful Warrior being his most popular. The movie opened nationwide last weekend. I gathered eight friends and we headed out with low expectations (the critics didn't give it rave reviews). The critics are entitled to their opinions, of course, but everyone of us liked the movie. This passage from the book which is depicted in the movie is one reason why:

"Then I look up at the shining mountain peak. If the jewel is to be found, it must be at the top. I climb and climb, beginning an arduous journey that takes many years. At last I reach my journey's end. I stand bathed in bright light. My eyesight is clear now, yet the jewel is nowhere to be found. I look upon the valley far below, where I began the climb many years ago. Only then do I realize that the jewel had always been within me, even then, and that the light had always shined. Only my eyes had been closed."

The movie condenses a book's worth of messages into a couple of hours. Important things like, be present, there are no ordinary moments, enjoy the journey, what you give you receive, trust yourself, are some examples. Everyone can get something from these messages. The more we expose ourselves, remind ourselves, reteach ourselves (we already know this on some level, we just need to be reminded), the more we live in that enlightened place. By living in that enlightened place I mean applying the principles of spiritual growth to all we do, and all we are. That is our purpose, to grow and live fully in a life of spiritual awareness.

For some, it is the smell of freshly popped popcorn that defines the experience and others find that the dark colors and the sweet smell of the syrup from the soda fountains is part of the experience (some things simply can't be imitated easily at home). There are many however, who find that sound is what sets the theater apart from home movie viewing and the one thing that keeps them coming back despite the interruptions provided by other patrons with cell phones, hungry children, or frequent trips to the restrooms.

The one thing that sets a theater apart for many people is one thing that we now have the technology to bring into our homes. Even better is the fact that the price tag on this particular technology is decreasing as competition, supply, demand, and technological advances increase. There is never too much to be said about how quickly the newness of electronics expires in order to be replaced by something newer and better next year. I remember a time when DVD players were priced well over $300 for the most basic of models. You can purchase them now for a mere $30 if you can find a decent sale and those models have more features than the originals. Can you imagine how little surround sound systems will be selling for an a few short years?

We are already seeing significant price drops in the box systems that are being sold on the market today. Gone are the days when these systems were merely the off brands trying to generate some sells by offering a low price and questionable quality. The boxed surround sound systems of today are carrying well-known names as their brands and providing some pretty stiff competition to those who aren't willing to offer the box sets when it comes to price.

That being said, you will want to take the effort to listen to any system you are considering before you buy it. It takes no small investment of time and energy in order to set up a surround sound system and while there are no guarantees that a system will sound the same in your home or apartment as it sounds in the store having a clue as to any problems before getting it home and setting it up will save both time and money in the long run. If the speakers you buy aren't adequate quality for the system you have purchased the sound will disappointing to say the least. My favorite scene for testing the sound quality of surround sound systems is the first 10 minutes of the movie Top Gun. Buy the DVD and take it with you whenever you try out systems for your home. If you find one set or system that blows you away with the quality of sound you should seriously consider that for your home theater and surround sound system.
