Rush Hour 3 - Comedy Movie Review - 4 Out of 5 Stars

Comedy movie go'ers delight... Just got back from watching Rush Hour 3 at the theatre. Who said sequels cannot be as good as the first? In my humble opinion Rush Hour 3 easily ties the first Rush Hour the only advantage being the first had the element of surprise.

Just got back from watching Rush Hour 3 at the theatre. Who said sequels cannot be as good as the first? In my humble opinion Rush Hour 3 easily ties the first Rush Hour the only advantage being the first had the element of surprise.

The writer's did a nice job tying the plot to the original movie. The plot is very basic but flows nicely. The stunts were fast moving, fantastic and mostly believable. A few of them went over the edge but nothing like MI3 or the Die Hard series, which to me were still good movies for different reasons. Sometimes you just want to veg at a movie and not have to think about anything.

Back to Rush Hour 3, get ready to laugh, laugh, laugh. Chris Tucker carries the whole movie and does a great job at it! Kudo's to you Chris, what a great comeback. He's put on a few pounds but can still move about the scene agilely. This is no Academy Award winning performance like Eddie Murphy should have received for his astounding Dream Girls performance but Chris Tucker really shows his versatile skills.

Jackie Chan does a good job as well. He helps to balance out Tucker's wild and crazy antics and keeps them from crossing the line (like much of Martin Lawerences' work) from funny to just plain stupid. It's all about timing and balance. The Chan and Tucker team definitely have both in this hilarious sequel.

The asian cast had quite a few veteran actors. Hiroyuki Sanada from The Last Samurai and Youki Kudoh from Memoirs of a Geisha.

The enormous international success of the Rush Hour series began in 1998 with Rush Hour and then the sequel Rush Hour 2 was released in 2001. According to Box Office Mojo, combined these two movies have grossed over $350 million dollars domestically.

My theatre was packed and the general mood felt like most of the movie goers enjoyed the flick. The movie itself is nicely compacted into 87 minutes so you're not sitting there so long you start to wonder why you came out. If you like comedies this is a must see. Even with a weak plot it's still remains very funny.

Get out and show some love for Rush Hour 3 this weekend. I'm betting this blockbuster will do quite nicely again at the box office.

Story: -

Allu Arjun (Raj Anand) is the son of wealthy business tycoon is Europe Satyamurthy (Prakash Raj). One day Satyamurt pm dies in a car accident and Viraj is liable for all debts of his father. Things take an ugly turn that Viraj returned to India with his family.On his return to India, Viraj joined an event management company as a wedding planner. There, he was assigned the task of managing a high profile marriage. During the marriage, he falls for Sameera (Samantha).Twist in the tale arises when Sameera's father (Rajendra Prasad) is launching an open challenge to Viraj to marry his daughter. Rest of the story is how Viraj achieve his challenge and where do Nithya Menen, Upendra, Sneha and Adah Sharma in all this.

Plus Points: -

major advantage of the film is heavy star cast task. It is a treat for moviegoers to see so many stars in one place. Allu Arjun is the highlight of the film is superb in an emotional role. It provides consistent performance and is especially good with its dances.Kannada star Upendra is a perfect fit in his role and brings a lot of depth with Sneha. Ali and Brahmanandam are hilarious in their roles and provide comic relief to the film. Second half of the film is entertaining and also gets emotional during the climax.Samantha looks decent and does well in all his comedy scenes with Allu Arjun. Adah Sharma is capable in his role and justifies his character. The production values are superb that policymakers do not compromise on the look of the film.

Negative points: -

Story of the film is routine and has been treated many times before. Film length is too long as many scenes could be easily modified. After a certain point, the film becomes slightly predictable. The role of Nithya Menen lack of proper justification, and it is quite surprising to see an actress of her caliber take a small role.First half is quite simple as the entertainment quotient is a little less during this time. The film begins on an emotional note and moving forward with not much interesting happens during the first half.

Technical aspects:-

The music of Devi Sri Prasad is one of the greatest strengths of this film. All the songs are great and have been shot extremely well. But it is his background score that elevates the film to a decent level. Dialogues throughout Trivikram movie are top quality and N / Satyamurthy is no exception. Some dialogs that define human values were written with a lot of depth.The assembly is correct but some long scenes have been changed due to the film crispy. Coming director Trivikram he did a decent job in the execution of a routine story. The way he handled the entire star cast and performances extracted from them is good. The only drawback is that in his direction becomes slightly preachy at times.

Verdict:-

Overall, S / O Satyamurthy is a decent family entertainer. Performance rocking Allu Arjun and immense galaxy of stars are the major strengths of the film. If you ignore the routine history and go without much expectations, you can easily give this film a hit with the whole family.

story:

They boarded a wrong train and end up in Hyderabad.As soon as they landed, Alludu Seenu falls on Bhai (Prakash Raj), a dreaded mafia don in Hyderabad. It gets the shock of his life when he discovers that Bhai looks exactly the same as his uncle. Taking this opportunity, Alludu Seenu decides to use its Dimple PA (Brahmanandam) and money mint on the name of Bhai.Twist in the tale comes when Alludu Seenu falls for the daughter of Bhai Anjali (Samantha). When love begins to bloom, he discovers a terrifying truth about Bhai and separates her. What is the truth? What happens to Anjali? How Alludu Sreenu win her love back? For answers to all these questions, you need to watch this movie on the big screen.

Plus points:

As the first film Bellamkonda Srinivas, let's start with him first. The young hero, was trained very well for his first film. Sreenivas excelled in both dances and fights. It has a lot of grace while dancing, and it shows on the screen. Acting wise also it is ok and will surely improve with his upcoming movies.Samantha appears in an out and out glamorous role, and does what is required of him perfectly. Glamor, especially in songs, will surely captivate the mass audience completely. Brahmanandam is another major asset of the film. It is hilarious as Dimple, and major entertainment generates in the film. His scenes with Sreenivas came out extremely well.Again, Prakash Raj did a fantastic job as always. He is supreme in its two roles, and shows the subtle variations. Some of his scenes with Samantha during the second half have good emotions. V V Vinayak has enough entertainment, and makes this movie look great.

MinusPoints:

The line of the basic story of Alludu Seenu is nothing new, and has not many interesting factors. Once the twist is revealed, the film is predictable right to the end.Second half has the same Baadshah, Dhee Ready and the type of entertainment, and has nothing new to offer. Although the songs were shot extremely well, they are not placed in the right places. Too many songs comes in one after another, and spoil the flow of the film.

Technical aspects:

Music of the film is quite good, and has some interesting peppy numbers. Bellamkonda Suresh spent a bomb on the film and Chota K Naidu showcases wonderfully with his camerawork. written for Brahmanandam dialogues are hilarious, and so are a coatings. The music of Devi Sri Prasad is also good, but it is his background that elevates the film to another level.Coming to V V Vinayak, its direction is top. Although this is a routine story, he handles very well. It adds the necessary punches and all commercial paper needed for perfect balance. Scenario Gopi Mohan is about right and could have been more tense during the second half.

Verdict:

Overall, Alludu Seenu is a fact of launching pad for measurement Bellamkonda Sreenivas. He made an impressive start and fascinated everyone with his dances and fights. glamorous Samantha, routine commercial aspects but entertaining V V Vinayak, and hilarious comedy Brahmi makes this film a sound artist.

It was originally called The Big Heart. Daryl Zanuck the shrewd head of Twentieth Century Fox couldn't buy the image of Santa Claus in a court room. But like so many ventures Miracle On 34th Street (1947) came about because of passion, in this case that of Director George Seaton who had gone to New York on his own and made arrangements with the real Mr. Macy and Mr. Gimbel to film inside their department stores. Impressed by Seaton's commitment Zanuck gave the show a green light.
Who would play the little girl who didn't believe in Santa Claus? Seaton agonized over it, until the assistant director remembered an amazing child prodigy from Santa Rosa, California who could cry on cue. Her name was Natasha Nikolaevna Gurdin renamed Natalie Wood after director Sam Wood . The same Natalie Wood who would later go out on a hotel room ledge and threaten to jump when her boyfriend Elvis Presley ignored her to play poker with Memphis Mafia. The same girl who would infuriate fellow cast members of West Side Story (1961) with her tardiness, her refusal to learn simple dance steps and her insistence on long lunch breaks to visit with her analyst. But the seven-year-old Natalie had none of the typical child star precocious behavior, she gained the respect of her co-stars on the Miracle set with her professional demeanor, earning the nickname One-Take-Natalie.

Like all filmed on location movies there were logistical problems. The sequence where Santa was taken to Bellevue was done without permission. The famous hospital would not cooperate with Hollywood because they had been portrayed badly in earlier films, they were not swayed by the sight of a sickly, freezing cold Santa Claus (Edmund Gwenn) bundled up under blankets in a car, waiting to shoot his scenes. The filmmakers were forced to shoot only the car approaching the building's entrance and edit the rest later. Another difficulty was getting permission to shoot the Macy's parade from the apartment dwellers on 34th street which had to be done right the first time, there could be no retakes. The film crew paid the ladies of the house to place the cameras in their windows. Then their husbands came home, complained about the inconvenience and demanded their own equal share. Most difficult to film was the sickly but determined Edmund Gwenn who would win an Oscar for playing Kris Kringle. He suffered from a bladder control problem but couldn't stand the thought of someone taking his place in the parade. The children who stood on the sidewalk waving at Santa never saw the long tube under his cloak.

Overcoming his initial reluctance Daryl Zanuck who was famous for his memos, made suggestions to improve the film's story. The mother Doris, played by Maureen O'Hara was too cold, she would scare a man like Fred (John Payne) off, she had to be made warmer to the audience by explaining that she had been burned by an earlier relationship and that's why she didn't want her daughter believing in Santa Claus. Zanuck also felt that they shouldn't overdo the scenes where Macy's employees recommend that their customers go shopping at Gimbels, just some simple dialogue was enough to get the point across. But despite the loud cheering by preview audiences when Santa Claus was declared sane in the courtroom scene, Zanuck never had full confidence in the film. He put it in theaters in July, the busiest time of year for moviegoers, and told his marketing staff to hide from the public that the film was about Christmas.

One reference in the Miracle script that's now dated was when Kris Kringle's psychiatrist mentioned a man in Hollywood who passed himself off as Russian Prince and owned a restaurant. It was a dig at Mike Romanoff, a colorful fraud whose Rodeo Drive eatery was a fun sanctuary for Hollywood's most notorious figures. One night FBI head J. Edgar Hoover was dining at Romanoffs when he was approached by an actual jewel thief named Swifty Morgan. "Like to buy these gold cuff links?" Amused, Hoover offered $200. "Oh come on John the reward is more than that!"
